Glad it bit you.
Camo, eh? Please stop posting your nonsense here.
Tell me you're older than 12?

On the other hand ..what you could do is pull the operating rod all the back till it locks, and then put two fingers, Hell put your whole hand into the magazine well and push down on the follower to make sure its going to fire.

aint gone fool me on that one

i done did it:grumpy:

I have a safe full of select grade garands. Matching parts and all, but no winchester. I just have never found a nice one I could afford. Damn.

I have been readfing gun boards and visiting sites for years.... Been shooting garand matches for decades. This REALLY effects me. Damn.

Gone forever...... I would give anything I mean anything for some memories from my grandfathers days in the war. Imagine owning your grandfathers rifle from the war with his uniform...lovingly preserved. I have nothing. You had EVERYTHING and you threw it away. Damn.

I choose to believe this was a hoax. That way I can sleep.

there were some pictures from the war shoved in the gun case. as soon as my dad gets home from work ill take some pictures of the pictures and post them. theres a couple of cool ones of tanks and such and theres a couple or boreing ones like a bunch of guys standing around on a ship. average stuff i guess.

it was my great grand fathers rifle btw. my father was born in 55.

If this indeed NOT a hoax, I hope this numbnuts tries to fire it "pistol grip style" & catches the receiver straight in the teeth. That's a hell of a weapon without taking the stability of the stock away.

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D

AHH man I'm just getting started I won"t be happy till he has mangled hi whole hand on that thing.

I really want to rip your ass but I'm not convinced you are serious. If this was in fact done, especially to a Winchester, then you are here to offend/spam. I know there are stupid people but if this were real it would rate right up near the top.:jerkit: :barf: :thumbdn:

God I hope you don't have children.

OH MY GOD!... This is just sick, or my calendar is wrong and this is actually April 1st...April FOOL'S Day.

A Winchester M1 Garrand. I'd give my left nut for one...Even a beat-up M1.

OK, I'll assume this is a genuine request.

1. Rifles have a long stock (the part you cut off) for a reason. Basically, it lets you shoot the gun accurately and helps you manage the recoil. This rifle is too heavy, and has too big a cartridge to shoot accurately without the stock. If you ever actually needed it for "home defense" you (or anyone shooting this) would probably miss the target, and send bullets randomly through the house. This caliber bullet is probably enough to pass through a wall or two, endangering other people. Plus, someone brought up that a shortened rifle no longer qualifies as a long gun, so there could be some legal issues with owning it.

2. I think you gathered that this could have serious collector value. Your best bet might be to sell to an enthusist who could replace the stock. If all the serial numbers match and the overall condition is still good and you bargain well, you'd might get enough to fully outfit a modern rifle.

3. If you choose to keep this rifle, figure out how to use it before you do anything else. Find someone who can show you how to safely load, fire, clean, and maintain it. Find somewhere safe to shoot - preferably a range, but alternately a nice place with a good dirt backstop away from houses, livestock, or wandering people. You might find out if there's an NRA group nearby who offers safety training. Hunter safety course might be another option. I'll suspend judgement on your modifications, but it would be REALLY BAD if you or someone else got hurt because you don't know how use it. Even if you've shot different kinds of guns before, learn the particular quirks of this one.

Best of luck with the rifle. I hope you learn something from the experiment.

I still hope this is a prank. I don't even want to think about anyone butchering any M1 Garand like this, much less a Winchester. The whole concept is nauseating.

Well poop.....

I've wanted a Garand for years and years , want to sell it ?
Hopefully you've learned a lesson here , you should not have too much trouble finding another stock for it.
Ditto on what homeslice said about cutting things to size , the heroes in the ATF would wet thier jeans to bust you for something like that.

Also , if you think you're going to use that Garand like a pistol grip shotgun , think again , you're going to put a hurtin' on your wrist. ;)

So... buy a vintage stock for it and apologize to your Grandpa.
Then go buy a frikin Mossberg or something , and cut it to pieces for I care. That Garand is not just any 'ol rifle , it is a genuine piece of American Military history, something our brave lads sent the Nazis' packing with.

IF THIS IS NOT A JOKE YOU ARE AN IDIOT. Wait and find out what it is before you hack something off!

What color camouflage pattern would one use for a home defense gun? Would it blend in with the couch and curtains?
