Fox River Magnum Passaround

Nice pics and review Mapper!

You can borrow my Fox River if you want to test it out.

mapper66....those are great pics! I'm loving the looks of that magnum. I'll have some fun comparing it with my FR.

Enjoy bro, Its a big knife and BRKT makes tuff user knives, so don't be that gentle.

Brian and Tony, glad to see you guys spreading the Barkie Bug over here.

That Custom Magnum Fox River is a real beauty, the blade shape reminds me one on my favorite Bark River knives the “River’s Edge”.

Some folks have complained that the regular Fox River has a small handle, not a problem on the Magnum.

That 5” blade is just about the size I like to carry when hiking and camping.

I look forward to what the folks in this pass-around have to say.

Big Mike,

Good to see you here and thank for the additional info! Here is a message from Mike Stewart to all who are involved in the passaround, and anyone else interested in the Fox River Magnum knife:

Brian,

Good evening.

I heard that you folks are doing a Magnum Fox Passaround.

Please pass my thanks to all involved.

A couple of quick points.

Remember that this run are prototypes and the actual production version next year will be in A-2 and a little longer in the handle.

I really like that knife and just had to make some right away to test the waters.

You guys are all top shelf.

Mike..............
BRKCA MIKE #01

Big Mike I think I met you at the CT gathering in the spring. If I am right, it was alot of your collection that got me into the BRKT knives.

wow!
I wish I could've gotten in on this (as I really want to see what barkies are all about... guess I'll just have to buy one now! :D) but this is a great gesture and should really help "spread the barkie bug" as mike put it.
lol
I can't wait for the reviews!
:D

Yeah, Tony, that was me, …I guess the infection is spreading. :D

Bark River knives are not advertised or sold in many stores; in fact they’re not even available to handle at most shows.

Events like the Connecticut Wilderness Skills Gathering are one of the best ways for newcomers to get a feel for these knives.

Heck, I know Brian got firmly pulled into the fold that weekend.

I was a bit slow to buy my first Barkie, I had read lots of good things, but was reluctant to pull the trigger.

Nobody I knew had one, and I was a bit skeptical of the convex edge and its special sharpening needs.

Alas, the worm has turned, now all my knives have convex edges, and they are sharper then ever.

Discovering the Bark River advantage has changed the way I buy and use knives; with the no questions asked warrantee, even the most beautiful knife handle becomes a user, bring on the wood, horn and bone; gone are the days when I thought I need Micarta or G10 on all my users.

I hope to make the next Connecticut Gathering, and you know I will show up with some new Barkies to show off.

Excellent Mike, I look forward to it! Then again I think you live like 20 min from me, would you mind if I PM'd you if I wanted to handle a specific Barky before I pulled the trigger? It wouldn't be for awhile as my funds are running low, and I have too many new knives that are in need of use still.

hey guys, I got the Magnum today.

WOW!!!!! It's a BEAST! I'll be taking some pics tonight and tomorrow. I'll have my review up Saturday morning.

My first impressions are VERY positive. It's big ole' knife.

Thanks and take care,
brett

Knife is off to the PO to send to Barberfobic1992

This post will contain my review as soon as the video is uploaded. Probably later today.

the video's not an action vid but a review.

thanks!

yeah, I'm just not comfortable beating on someone else's knife. But I did get some cool photos and I think You'll like the video.

It should be ready later this afternoon.

As an aside, the sheath the magnum came in had a sizable slice in the top close to the opening when I pulled it out of the box. I think we should all chip in and buy tony a new sheath when this thing is over.:thumbup::thumbup:

take care!

Yall don't need to do that, If the sheath still holds the knife it will work fine. A lil character won't bother me!;)

Thanks for the gesture though Brett.

It had to be Brian, he's a lil clumsy:D

Didn't notice anything when I packed it up, but that's not saying it wasn't there. If it's bad, let's get a new one!

It's not bad, but it's definitely there.

If tony thinks it's not bad, then we're all good. No doubt it was an accident. When you plan with sharp stuff, that's what happens....;)
