It's knife "A" for me, please. That one looks like a very nice, stout small "fighter". The shape of the handle and blade balance and compliment eachother very well.:).

Overall I like Knife A quite a lot. Beautiful work, especially on the grip! I like the blade shape too, but my ideal blade would be a drop-point recurve in D2 or BG-42. I would also like to see a small guard added on the top of the blade, fairly straight on the blade side, curved on the grip side to provide a comfortable thumb rest.

My vote is for knife A. It has good belly for tip cuts and slicing cuts, and the tip looks sturdy enough not to break under pressure yet has good piercing ability. The handle configuration is also quite nice, providing a mini guard and a recess to prevent the hand from sliding onto the blade.

Knife B looks to have the same piercing ability as A, but probably doesn't slice as well...and it doesn't have a recess in the handle.

Knife C looks to have more cutting ability than either A or B, but at the expense of some piercing ability. The multiple pins in the handle detract from its aesthetics slightly. It was a close call between A and C, but I went with A because of the tip design.

I like all three of them! But because I don't own a tanto yet, I vote for B.
It would also be my first knife in O-1.
Good luck with your work.

Hello,

I vote for C since the main question is about a fighting knife and I think that the curved blade and the double edge may perform quite well.

But if I have to take also aesthetics and utility into acount, I'll go for A.

I prefer Knife A because it is pleasing to the eye. From the specs, I believe it will mould itself to my palm.

The shape of the blade tells me it is suitable for many chores. Its design will afford many cuts from various angles without much effort.

The handle material will be user-friendly. I am guessing here that its overall weight won't lead to tired fingers. Its entire length from blade tip to handle butt is not too long nor too short.

It should fit quite comfortably at the hip and horizontally at the small of the back. The colours of the blade and handle are pleasing without being ostentatious.

Generally, I feel it will perform above expectations. Somehow it looks natural and will definitely feel that way too when it fits into my hands - left or right.

Got to be 'A' for me , love the handle shape, micarta is great and the overall blade design just looks really nice and clean.

A. Looks best and I'd take it. However C's double edge and more pointed tip has advantages. Adding short topedge (like in Randall model 1) and a little more pointed tip to A it would be clearly best but now C is not so far from it as a fighter.

Thanks for the contest, Robert. They're all great looking knives but I voted for "A", the clip point. I like it's clean lines, comfortable looking handle, and overall uncluttered look.

WOW, thanks for the contest!! They all look like fine tools but I lean toward the A design.
Thanks,
Clyde

"B" for me!

Jeez, 1/4" thick right up to the point almost. You could stab thru a sheet of plywood with that kind of point! I would prefer the handle ergonomics of knife A however.

All true fighters are tanto points (IMHO). If you want a jack of all trades knife, get a clip point. If you want a knife that stabs well primarily (and slashes well secondarily), get a tanto. A fighting knife is just that - you are not going to need to whittle toothpicks with it - it is designed for one thing.

All three knives look like they could do the job, but I am kind of attracted to knife C for a defensive knife. The upward sweeping blade with the false upper and the grip would be very efficent and deadly. Just wanted to add my .02.

Design C, since the double-edge facilitates the back-cut. All are very nice though, and I'd be happy to win any of them :)!

I voted for the A design. I think that a 2 or 2 1/2" sharpened top edge would look great and be functional too.

Robert,
I love knife A's blade design and shape. I would modify it by adding a bead blast non reflective finish and a more textures handle for better grip. I would also use Knife C's handle on knife A.

Best Regards,

Nick

I like it because it appears to be the best "all around" knife. I like the steel, and the blade shape and grinds allow many uses apart from fighting. I am also partial to the linen micarta, though I prefer the simplicity of the slabs from knife A...
It looks like a great "survival" knife in many senses of the word.
Thanks,
Rob
