Freeman 451 Flipper Available

For what I use it for, and how I use it, it works great. And I don't have to worry about it breaking if I use it a little harder than some thinner knives. Not everyone needs a knife that will slice open an atom.

Whatever works for you. I just think it's a silly design that people keep buying because of the action, which has to be among the least important factors of a knife.

I still question the use of tiny caged bearings in the pivot, if it's supposedly a rougher use sort of knife like you say.

You can make a piece of rebar "cut like a laser" if you don't cut anything where geometry matters.

I just saw the notifications from this thread, so I apologize for the delayed response.

@Mo2 , thank you for the video link. I had hopes when I made that video that it would clear up a lot of things on this topic when it comes up, so it feels nice to know that someone saw value in it as a reference piece. You made my day, sir.

As for the section quoted above...

This packs volumes of truth and value in it, both in favor of the Freeman, and to the negative. Context is everything.

If most of a person’s application is shallow cutting and fidget fun, a world of viable “great buy” options are opened up. I have no way of proving it, but my intuition is that most people are in that category, and I think that is pretty cool. If I ever wind up in a job where I’m not breaking down shippers and such at work... let me be the first to admit that I would run out and get a Reate JACK so fast, I’d have it open before the card processed payment. I’d be gleefully rocking big, chunky, sexy, free swinging blades, with crazy action, and giant flats.

Does anyone know if he will refinish both the blade and handle for a fee?

I’m sure the coating on both will wear off from use so down the road I’d like to be able to make it like new again.

Your best bet would be to ask Jeff directly. He is very responsive and customer service oriented, plus only he can tell you definitively what he will do. I will say the finish is quite tough and has held up pretty well.
