Cant wait to see the video on that one lol. I own a couple busses.. older ones. And they all seem pretty darn tough. But nothing like a good old destruction test to really see. I also managed to score a work tuff dregoth, which should be here pretty soon. I was waiting for busse to put out their smatchet. But its been years and its still not out, so the dregoth is the closest thing i can find.I have been motivated by this video to finally take the busse plunge haha
That dregoth looks amazing.I

+2 would like to see a video or photo of this. The steel definitely changed over years, I smashed the TGULB into concrete yesterday not using full force, about 60%. The edge behaved similarly to Joe's testing so I stopped.
Just curious in what ballpark are you looking for in terms of usage and weight? That dregoth looks amazing.
I'm going to put out some feelers for a busse today, I think when I jump in it will be with both feet with some wild nuclear forsaken battle mistress or something lol
Ball park 9-10" plus BL and for thickness I could go either way from .212 to .340-Just curious in what ballpark are you looking for in terms of usage and weight?
Id definitely suggest the basic series made by Sykco (Scrap yard Knife co) it’s a branch of Busse that uses INFI steel and really nice Res-C rubber handles, great for keeping your hands warm. I’ve got a user Alpha Regulator 9.5 that’d be right up your alley. If you wanna use it for a video and do an honest review I could send it to you.Ball park 9-10" plus BL and for thickness I could go either way from .212 to .340-
But I wouldn't want one with a turbo thick edge (I should maybe consider making a thread asking about bte to know some general info on when and which models have thicker vs thinner edges)
Uses would be bush bashing. I use a LOT of big heavy blades in the woods- but only on wood. For me abuse generally involves... well... wood. Lol
I'll actually be selling/ trading a trash 2 in sr101 to fund this project.Id definitely suggest the basic series made by Sykco (Scrap yard Knife co) it’s a branch of Busse that uses INFI steel and really nice Res-C rubber handles, great for keeping your hands warm. Has super snug BB kydex sheath and a fresh edge put on it by a member here who does sharpening services.

I think mine weighs around 17.5-18.5 oz
ok. at 10:32 I started laughing out loud. ya, i would have a drink with him.
You wouldn't have laughed at 10:32 had he not edited a bunch out.ok. at 10:32 I started laughing out loud. ya, i would have a drink with him.
I still think its gorgeous. Even broken. So we can't get as good of an analysis out of these pictures as Jerry could by having them in hand and some or you, Jerry especially, know more (or a TON more) about this than I do.
But from what I can see the grain structures look nice and fine even between stress fractures that run VERY deep.
I don't know that we could come to a conclusion on heat treat problems based on these pictures like I could with the operator 7.
Hmmmmm, this is sad to hear. Did you see Vlad22s video? He really put his HR2 through the wringer and it eliminated any doubt JoexS video may have caused me.The steel definitely changed over years, I smashed the TGULB into concrete yesterday not using full force, about 60%. I was literally JUST thinking the same thing when reading that!Welp, hes evidently been hittin that shitty ass rum again![]()
As a TOUGHNESS fanboy myself, bring it, JoeX!So Joe X posted that the ASH 2 test should be fully uploaded and ready for viewing tomorrow/Sunday.
I'm very interested to see how that does being that it's a different knife and production time frame.
Also, here's the latest from Joe X for those who care and haven't seen it yet. From his community tab on YouTube :

So while we won't get any analysis done on the broken knife (knives? Guess we'll know tomorrow!), I am looking forward to the sample size increasing and seeing more tests being done on more INFI blades as there's a number of us that didn't think the AFBM was representative of INFIs reputation given its documented history.
Will we see results more in line with those of Vlad's recent testing and past Busse history?
Will we see more of what Joe's AFBM test showed?
Stupid antics aside, I'm looking forward to see what data we can gather.
