Friendly reminder for tonights GW sale

We seem to be continuing to miss the point. The system as it exists today is based upon the way scarce Busse knives are sold. The way scarce Busse knives are sold lies in the hands of a single individual. If that individual is not willing to change the way scarce Busse knives are sold, nothing anyone says or does will change the outcome. And whether any of us feel that the outcome is fair or not is completely irrelevant.

If those of us who don't like the present situation banded together and opened our own Busse knife store with our own rules, things might change because competition would enter the scene. But in the absence of competition, the golden rule prevails . . . he who has the gold makes the rules.

Good night and good luck.
you've about lured me in to this conversation several times tonight. :thumbdn:

I hope people stop posting in this thread soon.

Can we talk about the girl some more? :o

BINGO! I like your way of thinking!!!! She does bear some more discussing. :D

Mashed Cat, Idaho???? I just noticed. :D  :p

I guess I did miss the point. I thought this was about a reminder of what 'dealer' and membership rules were… then I thought it turned into some nonsense about bashing Capitalism and calling the free market a product of greed. But I see now, this thread is more about whining bitchez. Of course I could be wrong, as I am no expert.

Skunk- we love you, don't led the fleas drive you to kill the dog!

The one person you speak of is Jerry Busse. You know that right?

BLD522- this has nothing to do with you really, I just picked your post to reply to. But in general terms the facts speak for themselves. I have "not insignificant" resources and I hold back from buying many Busse knives because I don’t want to commit that much money to knives. So I really can’t imagine that there are too many people that really can not buy all the knives their economics allow from the Busse Combat Shop or from the Company Store. Hell I have only five secondary market purchases and I have bought well over 60 Busse knives since July of 2006. What is that, nearly two a week? So the whole thing about the supply chain not working is just wrong. It works, the knives I have prove it, and Jaxx may have bought more in less time.

Now I am also a Spyderco Collector Club member and I have not got anywhere near that number of knives out of Spyderco in the same time. I have not received more than seven. Yes I could have bought a lot more but I could have bought a lot more Busses too IF I had been willing to commit more money. I think that the Busse distribution lines are no more broken than Spyderco’s. Remember the Blue ZDP Delica and all the griping about supply?

So to me it seems that Busse (Jerry & Skunk) are doing a good job. I think that most guys that are around for more than six weeks and 60 posts will find that they don’t buy more knives because of their economics not because Busse has not made them available. Most will find that their supply line of cash will not keep up with the supply line of knives that Busse will provide.

Now here is my number one observation:
It is that many Americans have a sense of entitlement, and it seems that they feel that they are entitled to immediate gratification simply because they are able to inhale. You don’t need to earn any rights, you don't need to work; you don’t need to be diligent all you need to do is inhale. What they need to do is think about what they would be entitled to if they happened to draw the birth-straw that gets you born in India or Guatemala. Because when it comes down to it you are no more entitled to a Game Warden than if you were poverty stricken in South India; because owning a Busse is not a Constitutional right.

There:thumbup: my first ever Scotch induce BF rant!

metallicat my post was not aimed at you, in fact I did not make it past the first paragraph of your long winded post. I was pissed about the Greedy Bastard insults. I bought knives off of some of those Greedy Bastards and was happy they were available. I did not have the time to F5, so I paid a little more.

As far as Hog perspective, I am sure your whining and crying are not it.

"I am an enthusiast" is pretty damn funny. I picture you dancing in front of a mirror with a $500 knife you will never use. What a waste of perfectly good INFI. Sorry can't locate the smiley face icon, but I am in fact smiling.....thanks for that!!!!

We can talk this topic to death. But it will NEVER go away as long as people feel that they're being taken advantage of. What riles people up even more is the perception that nobody (save for a few good samaritans) seems to care. Whether that perception is true or not is irrelevant.

Point taken I had not considered that. I am not convinced that reminding people of the rules is a bad thing.

I still think that people that sit on a high speed connection and buy way more than they need for the express intent of resale are breaking the rules.

Letting them know that I intend to call them on it loudly this time around is not a threat. No one needs to worry about what I do unless THEY are breaking the rules.

Note the the title of the post FRIENDLY REMINDER.

Its common knowledge that I am looking for a red one. I think I have treated my quest with good humor and Friendly banter. However some of the greed and profiteering that goes on around here at the expense of "friends" is a little sad. Honestly Guyon...do you see any truth in that at all?

I may not be 100 percent right here...But maybe just a little? :)
Jim

Where exactly do you seem to think there are any "rules" stated, psoted, understood???

And who is to say what someone elses "need" is?

It is a fact that you don't NEED one, you WANT one.

If someone wants to buy every single available piece of something, that is their business. If I don't get one, tough.

THERE IS NO ENTITLEMENT HERE GUYS!!!!

Why can't people understand this??

There are a limited number available, and a larger number of buyers, so it is necessarily so that someone will get left out, whether person A buys just 1, or 50.

THERE WILL BE SOMEONE WHO DOESN"T GET ONE!!!

This is the nature of a market.

And how is it right that you buying multiples to sell to other forumites any different?

There are people out there who do not post, and if one of them contacts you, will you sell to them if you don't recognize
their name?

By you buying more than YOU NEED, you are keeping someone else from getting what they NEED, NO MATTER WHAT YOUR FUTURE INTENT.

Unreal, just unreal....

I BLAME PORKERSON!!!!

Someone must have put something in the water here,
because I had a revelation in the shower yesterday.
I had the final solution to this discussion, and knew that all would agree with me.
Everybody would be happy, I just knew it! It was very clever and simple.
But... I stupidly forgot about it! Been twisting my brain all day to try and remember...
Now I'll go take a shower, and I think I'll take the laptop with me and post if I get a re-revelation.

I hope people stop posting in this thread soon. It will only lead to hostility from this point on. Both perspectives on this idea have been COMPLETELY explored and forum members are free to govern their behavior as they see fit.

I suggest people move on with there lives and INFI gathering. I have a feeling this problem will be self policing for a good long while as awareness on this topic is very high..... obviously.

That sounds like a request by the original poster to have this thread locked to me. Say the word and I'd be glad to accomodate you.

Sounds like something out of "The Hitch Hikers Guide..." :p

That's not my call to make, Progunner. And, of course, locking the thread will provide only a temporary fix to the problem. But you and I both know that this issue is not going to go away.

Perhaps discussions concerning "fairness" should be placed into the same category as the use of the "jerkit" icon. Anybody found using that term or alluding to it will be warned and if they fail to refrain from using it further, summarily escorted off the board. ;)

Please understand. I have no axe to grind. I know how things work around here and I'm prepared to use the resources that certain members of this community so graciously place at my disposal rather than trying to grasp at straws. But you have to admit that the fact that this discussion never seems to end may be a reason to consider modifying the policies and practices that drive it.

Steelnut:

I'm not surprised that you didn't make it past the first paragraph of my long winded post...judging by your previous posts I didn't think you could understand the points I was making...which is also why I chose to respond to your post point by point. Your last post just confirms my initial impression.

You still haven't explained your concept of "hogness" ...I am sure your greediness isn't the hog perspective either. Tired of all these people that claim to speak with true "hogness" and imply that anyone else that doesn't agree is not a "hog". You've turned "hog" into a pc concept.

Funny I had a picture of you in a pink tutu with your head up your ass so far you were looking out your belly button waiving your knife in the air, snorting I'm a HOG, I'm a HOG

Can't find the smiley? No surprise you couldn't find your ass with a map :D :D :D ;) ;) ;)

In my first post I made clear that the majority of us understood that we would not be fortunate enough to get every Busse that was released by Busse or the store. There is no clearly no entitlement. There should be a fair opportunity though. Profiteering cuts against that.

The fact of the matter is that if someone bought all the stock so be it.

The complaint only arises as far as I am concerned when that person immediately turns around and sells it at an inflated price. That's profiteering. It hurts and takes advantage of the avid enthusiast. That's all.

See what I mean, Progunner? ;)

It is a shame you had to slip into profanity to try and get your windy ideas accross. I expected as much.

If you are close to Cleveland I would love to get together and share my thoughts on Hogginess face to face, buy ya coffee bud

Maybe a MOD will come a long and wash your dirty mouth out with INFI soap........

You were the first to make it personal, not that it bothers me. You seem to be bothered though. If you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen...getting your tutu all in an uproar... I'm really not impressed by your desire to discuss matters face to face...ho hum boring that...

Tell you what I'll back off if you'll back off. Here..I'm sorry I hurt your feelings. Ok?

And there's not a whole lot of heat behind this issue either, is there Progunner? ;)

Yes profanity is indeed the last resort of a feeble mind.
Your inability to control your language in public speaks of immaturity and lack of proper upbringing.

But it is not to late, Sell one of those overpriced knives and spend the money on a top notch therapist!!!
