In all the time I have been part of Blade Forums, perhaps a dozen people have asked to be my friend. Once I was able to understand how to go aboout accepting I did, of course, then thought no more of it.

A couple of nights ago I was rereading the 2008'2009 thread "What is it with A. G. Russell?" in which I was attacked for having higher prices than some other knife dealers. After reading about 15 of the 31 pages, it occurred to me that these people defending me were my friends and that I should tell them that I recognized them as such. After asking the 130-140 posters in that thread, I moved on to other, more recent threads and looking for any one who spoke highly of my knives or of myself and asking them to be my friends.

Would any member of Blade Forums who feels friendly toward me, my business, or my line of knives please save me hours of searching and go to my profile and ask to be my friend?

I do not yet know how to interact with my friends on BF, but, over the next few months I will learn.

Thank all of you, those of you who comply with this and those who don't for being and having been my friends.

A. G. Russell, A. G. to my friends

I was happy to accept your "Friends" request, and proud to have been asked.

Best wishes to you and your family this holiday season. :)

I've been in your store and bought several knives. No complaints from me. Glad to call you a friend.

I was happy to accept the request. Would have extended it myself earlier if I would have been thinking. You've always been a class act in my dealings with you and your business.

Request sent. I got my first AG Russell knife today in fact, an Acies 2 and so far i love it! I see it quickly kicking many other knives out of my pocket for everyday uses.

Hi A. G. -

I was pleased to get your friend request - it made my day!

It was also a pleasure to meet you in person at Blade, and you took time to have a chat with me even though you were very busy.

I, and my family love a lot of your designs. I intend to gift myself the K12 cocobolo for Christmas. I bet I'll love that too.

I was also happy to get a friend request from you A.G.

Your a class act here on BF, and I've enjoyed talking to you at Blade a few times.

I was more than happy to accept your friend request the other day, I've always been a fan of you and you knives, I remember when I won a AG Russell Funny Folder a few years back and when I had a problem you not only replaced the knife but you gave me another to keep for me after my daughter decided she liked the first one and took it.

Mr Russell I am proud to call you friend and I remember the very first knife I bought from you was at the first ECCKS in the early 80s and you had cut your thumb with an AG Russell One Hand Knife I had bought, you went and got stitches and were back for the rest of he show, I still have that knife. ;) hope your finger is doin' better

Toss me in with those that are pleased to have been asked. I have known about Mr. Russell for years as have most of us that are interested in knives. But, big names don't necessarily cut it with me. Raised with a knife in my pocket (just about!) I want it to be a good tool, and a reliable one to boot. In the last year I bought one knife from him. There was a small problem with the knife and they couldn't have responded in a more friendly or responsible way. I was honestly surprised at their dedication to their customers. He says that, and he means it. And he proved it.

So, two more of Sr. Russell's knives are now in the stable. These are knives made the way the used to be. And while it flies in the face of everything I believe it to pay more than a should for anything, paying a few dollars more for a item to come from him isn't actually paying more. You are paying for the product and a company that stands completely behind it. I will pay more when I get more, and be glad to do it. If I find what I want on his site, I buy it from him. He may not be the absolute lowest price, but you know, if you are a huge company like AGR and only need one customer service rep (hey Judy!), that should tell you something. I was so knocked out by their quick and friendly response I actually wrote Mr. Russell a letter of appreciation when I returned the knife (in the prepaid envelope sent to my house that had a replacement knife in it just four days after the phone call!).

Because of my personal experience with his company, I was 110% on with AGR myself and have gladly sent folks there to buy. All have had great experiences. But imagine my surprise when I got a friend request! It is a privilege, indeed.

Glad to be on board with you as a friend, Mr. Russell.

Robert

So that's where that friend request came from!

It made my day A.G. thanks. I really enjoyed the time I got to meet you and Goldie and spend time with you both as well as your brother.

Done.

I really don't think I have requested a friendship with anyone else on here.
I don't think much about it.

But I have definitely made comments and had good things to say when people try to badmouth.

Just keep doing what you are doing, and ignore trolls.

People will troll makers, dealers, manufacturers, and unicorns for no reason.

I have bought one of your budget Cowboy, and been very pleased with it! I look forward to all of your designs, and feel you are doing a real service to people who enjoy a strong, well built, and well designed knife. I have paid 4X (or more!) for a slipjoint made in America, and received a product of much lower quality than that nifty sodbuster pattern you produce! And I say that literally! I ordered about 8 slipjoints at the same time.

Just keep doing what you are doing, and don't worry about any one else.

A.G.

We've been friends, you and I, for about a dozen years or so. I have a small group of friends here at BFC, including some of those whose 'friend' requests I've accepted. But, until now, I've never sent one, so you're my first. Hope you'll accept it as sent (if I did it right), 'cuz you are, and always will be, my friend. :)

Shel

Thanks for the request. It's not always about who has the lowest prices and lesser overhead. It's who's there for the long term and stands behind the community.

Request sent. I've purchased from you several times and I look forward to your emails. The next blade I plan to pick up is the sandbox. I appreciate the way you run your business.
