From a little nutty to outright insane

I am not talking about gouging in the secondary market. On the contrary, I am talking about what I believe to be extremely reasonable prices on very rare knives. Sure, wouldn't we all have loved to be around when premium Busses were selling for much less? Heck, I'll take a '65 Mustang for its original price too! ;)

My comment was in agreement with some of the later posts expressing a wish to see the end of some of the massive markups on the older blades.

I do agree with you in your observations regarding the prototypes. Excellent deal for whoever is collecting that sort of Busse!:thumbup::thumbup:

Nothing wrong with an entrepenurial spirit, is there??? :p

Seriously though, don't you agree? People have $$ for NNFBMs, but not for a piece of Busse history?

I chose to buy a few more NMFBM's over a single SHBM because I'm speculating that these are the "next SHBM" and will be a part of Busse history over the next 10 years. Longer than any FBM, with handles hand ground on the knife, and rounded edges everywhere including the Talon & lanyard holes... A lot of extra work went into grinding these and they are beautiful. Do I want a SHBM??? Yes, and eventually I hope to have one, but I chose to grab a couple of future classics now, at now pricing while they were available. With these, a decision had to be made quickly as they were only available for... Two weeks? Something like that. Until I pay for 'em all, Exchange purchases will take a backseat and I'll sell what sells to contribute to the purchase of new Busse's. INFI in INFI out. :) As for the market... Ebb & flow, my friends, ebb & flow...

Nope.

Jaxx, Ducci and I bought two banks last week.

.

We are getting ready to bail out all of you guys that paid too much for knives by giving you pennies on the dollar for them! Were such "givers", I know Tony "gives until it hurts" every day..... :D

I got Cobalt to sell me those SH Protos for $8.50 ea., he can now buy a few gallons of gas for his Porsche! Just enough to Rev it up and make another video!!!!

Step right up... The line forms to the right. :D We're here to help YOU bail out from your INFI holdings. ;)

Holy crap. The economy has come to the bottom - Jaxx is finally out of $.

Yes! Yes!! It has happened! ...Ready to panic yet? I'm sure that I can scrape at least a couple more bucks to buy you out. Don't worry about me, catfood is food too!! :D:D:D ;)

...Just don't ask me how many NMFBM's I bought!! :foot:

I am just hoping that when I finally get some more money, there will be great offerings like there are right now. I think I would jump all over some of those older ones on the exchange right now if I had the scratch.

But no matter how reasonable the prices are, there is only so much I can justify having tied up in knives?????? Although I guess I have much more tied up in guns without any qualms, so maybe I just need to adjust my reasoning.

I used to think, A FBMLE? Who can afford to pay that much. Then I ended up with one. I said, well, that will be my one and only piece of infi for the next decade. SS, GW, BAD.
So I guess I was wrong. I do think that the NMFBM's were a steal at the prices they were offered. I am just hoping that there was enough of the old "eyes are bigger than the wallet" on those, and I will be able to pick one up at a reasonable price later.......But then again, maybe there will be another offering I want more. I think my FBMLE will do for my chopping needs. I am still jonesing for some Nicks, and some old straight handled offerings, and an AK or two etc, etc, etc, etc.

This thread is hard to read without getting a little miffed!

Be happy with what you have gents (and ladies). You really...really shouldn't buy a Porsche if you can't afford it. And you really....really shouldn't buy a Busse if you can't afford it. As are in a fraternity with an outstanding motto: NO REGRETS!!

Our fraternity isn't a streetgang; if you are regretting your Busse addiction, shoot me an e-mail and I will help you out of it. I'm here for you hog!

If you can't live up to our motto and aren't desperate enough for me to buy you out: QUITCHERBITCHIN.

If I forgot to don my flamesuit before hitting "Post," blame it on the booze, its late.

Idaho Jarhead, most of us who buy Busse knives do so because we can afford to. I hope nobody here is risking their financial security, or the financial security of their family by going into debt over INFI.

Now, just because we can afford to, and quite often do (overpay) doesn't mean we LIKE to overpay on our purchases.

A really good deal is hard to come by around here. When you buy from Busse you are paying a fair price, but if you buy knives from the exchange fairly regularly, chances are you've overpaid on your fair share of INFI. I know I have a few times to get some of my more desired pieces...

The most I can do is refuse to overpay on common Busse's and do my part by selling at a fair price - my cost. Doesn't always happen, and I've accommodated a few Hogs to help them get what they want - but there are those among us who I suspect think would rather cut their own hand off than present a fair price on the exchange.

I get a little miffed at some of the prices when I see them, but that soon gives way to either buying because I like the knife or moving on because the price is just too high.

There is a knife on the exchange right now that I would love to get but simply won't pay the crazy asking price.

Bottom line is that I am free to make a choice. The beauty of a free market system.

I ran in to some unforseen problems a few weeks back and am selling many knives.
I havn't listed any Busse's yet since the market is flooded, and I also paid ALOT over cost for almost half of my Busse's.
I'm sure I'll have to list some, and take a loss, before the years end though.
But as always...No Regrets!

If I ever buy another Busse it will be one I know I will use. No more Busse collecting for me:(

remember , you bought those banks from me.

THey were a couple of my smaller holdings, and yes, I cooked the books:eek:

So you might find that your cash flow is not as strong as anticipated:p:p

We have gone through a period somewhat akin to "Tulip Mania" (ask an economist) and it is now correcting. The prices will continue to decline until willing sellers find willing buyers at a given price. The key word is "willing."

I don't understand the use of the word "miffed" in regard to the current situation. If one person sells something I want to another person at a price higher than I am willing to pay, why should I be miffed? To be miffed is to assume that I have some kind of right to something at a price less than someone else will pay for it, and the seller has an obligation to fullfil my wants. That just makes no sense.

Don't buy Busses for intended profit. Buy them for what they are, as they have a significant intrinsic value apart from resale profit. If you do turn a profit upon resale, then count it as a pleasant bonus. I, for one, have a hole or two in my collection that I intend to fill when and if the market hits my level of "willingness." If it doesn't, then I will not be "miffed".

If Busse collecting becomes too serious to you, if it becomes a source of irritation and anxiety rather than pleasure, then get out! Life is too short to do otherwise.

A subtle illustration that echoes what you're saying here is that if you have a hobby or do something you really love, you should be careful about turning it into a little business (eg. I love Busse knives, but so does everybody. Hmmm, maybe I can make a profit here). You may find that even if it does not become a frustration for you, all the fun and joy has gone out of it.

I am kinda in the same boat as well all of a sudden... No regrets at all, but it is time to thin the heard to a smaller, select set of Busse knives now...

You must have been drunk for a few days spending that $128.50 we gave you.

Over the past several days some fools in D.C. bought all the bad assets we could spin off and paid higher than market prices
