From a little nutty to outright insane

If Busse collecting becomes too serious to you, if it becomes a source of irritation and anxiety rather than pleasure, then get out! Life is too short to do otherwise.

Maybe what I said didn't come across the way I intended it to. This is what I was attempting to say.

Busse is a great company, Hogs are great people, and America is a great Country. I don't have a beef with anyone.

You must have been drunk for a few days spending that $128.50M we gave you.

Over the past several days some fools in D.C. bought all the bad assets we could spin off and paid higher than market prices

.

now Tony,

you of all people know that $128.50 won't go far here in the nations's capitol much less buy me a bottle of Blue:cool:

so I fixed it for ya

Ah, brings me back to the days when one bought and sold a Busse for the same price. Seems like only yesterday. :o

Now I hear grumbling when someone is forced to sell one for what they paid for it, "forced!" yea.

Yeah! The only uppage of price was to cover your shipping cost.

HOGs back then weren't looking to lose money, nor were they looking at insane markups. Just cover expenses.

It was a brotherhood, not 'let's see what we can squeeze the newbe for'.
:(:(

Hey I gave you more than enough to get some Scotch that is actually "good". These here will make you want to spit that Blue in the sink... for just $100.

Oh ... it still is, it still is.

After 2+ years, I still haven't sold a Busse for more than I paid for it. And there were plenty of opportunities ...

Why? Like several have already said, this is my "hobby" and not a business. I want it to reduce my stress, not add to it.

Of course, I haven't sold any old or really rare ones. :) [Well, twice -- but to real friends I trusted. My beauties will be safe in their capable hands.]

It's a free country, fellow Hogs. Do what you will, so long as it's at least legal (moral and ethical would also be nice) -- just be ready to accept, without complaining, the consequences.

+1 OP:thumbup: Been here almost as long and the I've never made a cent on any Busse's(over 20) I've sold. We know the ones that have done the same.

Not saying I never will, but I really dought I will ever mark one up over what I paid..plus shipping.

wetdog1911, I'd say there are still very generous Hogs out there who will not only not rip you off, but will sell at more than fair prices - and even go through all the trouble to ship overseas to guys like me. There's still a brotherhood. OldPhysics, for example, sold me an FFBM for a very fair price. And you know what. He wasn't even intending to sell it, I just randomly asked him if he might have an FFBM he'd be willing to part with, and he did!

I'd say the one on the left. But it is going to be hard to find. The shop I go to was allocated only six and I bought three and just sent an email asking for two more . Skunk and I drank just about an entire bottle on Thursday night and we both thought it was the best we ever had.

The shop is a place that I have bought wine from since the early '80s and the owner is into drinking single malts himself, so he get all kinds of odd stuff. The only problem is that a scotch like this is like an old SHBM LE.... it will be made once and no matter how much you like it, no matter how fast it sells.... they are never going to make it again

But it is very good. I really like Oban, Talisker and Higland Park. But if I start off with this one I really do feel like I want to spit those others into the sink. These “odd ball” scotches hit you really hard with a ton of flavor and then that flavor just very smoothly fades away in your mouth... like for 10 minutes. That is no BS the first time I had a taste I was with Skunk and we drove to lunch after and the flavors were still in my mouth... it was the same for him.

They can be so powerful that you do have to add water or ice to drink them and if they are cask strength then it is a lot of ice or water.

A $100 is a lot for a Scotch but for something special –to me- it is worth the money. :o

Well I do and I don't. I ask guys I know if they want a knife and I sell them at low or no mark ups. I figure that if I had the money in the S&P 500 I would have made a few bucks so that is about what I sell for, cost plus 5-10%. If I list it on the exchange then it is going at market. It kills me to sell a knife for say $270 and see the guy I sold it to flip it.

Oh then there is the post a photo and get a PM kind of thing. I just say I wasn't selling but of they want to make an offer "go for it"... "it" just needs to be very motivating.

When it gets hard is for something like a CPDABAIII. The knife sells for say $700 on the exchange and I paid $400. I'm not going to sell that thing for $400 unless it was to a guy that I gave me a break. Like one guy that sold me a SH knife for at least $300 under market.
