Front Flipper Fans?

That's quite a line-up and a serious flex on your part. Nicely done. I'm assuming the second from the left is the Microtech Anax? That's really sweet looking knife.

Haha thanks Kevin. Yep, that's the Anax. I always loved how these looked but getting one in hand was a pleasant surprise, due to the nicely contoured scales.

I like front flippers , been making them for a while now ,
it has to be tuned properly or it will be nightmare to open , nobody spends time tuning cheaper knives so I do believe horror stories.
If everything done right front flippers just as good as regular flippers , just with cleaner look.

Oh man, I've been drooling over those Ice Picks, very cool design.

I love mine. I bought my first front flipper years ago at the annual St. Louis Knife Show. It was a nice carbon fiber custom made by a South African whose name I have forgotten. It was only $150, man, I should have kept it. I think I may buy a Civivi McKenna to go with my Exarch.
I think you'll really like the Mckenna. I had both the Mckenna and the Exarch and ended up selling my Exarch because I like everything about the Mckenna better. The Mckenna is on the smaller side but has a super slicey blade and I like the design and action better than the Exarch. The Exarch is still a great knife and unbeatable for the price though, but that goes without saying for pretty much any Civivi.

I guess I will ride to GP knives in a few minutes and check one out.

I think i'm starting to prefer well designed FF over a tab. Not for just the cleaner look but its actually easier and more comfortable to open as well(firmer grip and more room while opening..thumb vs finger).
Some require practice, wrist action etc to open nicely. Some like my TBC require zero 'technique' and fly out way harder then the effort put into opening it. That's what i'm going for.

I'm infatuated with my Olamic Cutlery Busker.

I also recently had a REX45 Lil' Native converted over to a front flipper. Love them both!

Nice mod to the Lil Native. Did you do it yourself or have somebody else do it? I know a lot of people consider the Lil Native too small but it's a great fifth pocket knife and it may be the best out there. I'm a sucker for small knives because of the fifth pocket carry option.

Agreed! You should start a “What’s in your fifth pocket” thread. I’ll participate. :D

Cuscadi made the scales and did the mod. It would be a very, very simple mod though. It’s such a small amount of material that needs to be removed.

I've grown to like them. I was just eyeballing the little Reate Bushido that's been showing up at dealers.

I currently have these -

(CKF Fif20 and Microtech Anax with a few customs)

Those customs looks sweet. Who are the makers, if you don't mind me asking? The middle one and the far left have got a French influence vibe going. The second one from the right looks like it has some design cues from the Anax.

Did someone say front flippers?

That's quite the assortment of Des Horns!

From left to right: Custom Knife Factory Philippe Jourget Fif23, Microtech Anax, Guy Poggetti Pebblecreek, MacWasil knives custom, Cyril Kalisz Oiseleur.

Good call on the French provenance - Jourget, Poggetti, and Kalisz are all makers from the country. I think MacWasil is Polish.

Ah, I had a feeling the middle one was by Guy Poggetti. That mokume-gane handle is insane!

Hmmm... I have never heard of Cyril Kalisz. His Tailleur pattern is very eye-catching. Very similar to the Oiseleur that you have but with a broader profile and more flare in certain areas.

Though I only have one, my Civivi McKenna Damascus is fantastic.

Waiting for a larger wharncliffe front flipper now if anyone makes one.

By far my favorite opening method.

I dont own a true front flipper, i do however, front flip my Shaman non stop.

Thank you. A few years back I went on a mission to locate Horns and Burgers and I was not disappointed. I sold a lot of knives to purchase these over a relatively short span of time. The nitrobe is a treat to use, for me.
