It's hovering about 45 degrees here now.. I can't wait till it gets way down there and I can bust out my balacalava again!

Brought my Opinels to work to sharpen them. Couldn't figure out why I was having such a hard time getting the tips sharp. Took a really close look and noticed that on all of them the last 1/4" or so of the edge on the tip is blunt.

So, my Tibo won't shave, even though I stropped it. Apparently it came at 18-20 degrees angle, however it won't shave. :( It's a hell of a toothy edge though.

home!
chilly. nice!
top of the mail stack: title to my truck, paid off!
Tomorrow I get to make an appointment for new tires. :-/

Welcome back & congratulations on the truck title! I had fun snooping in on the science occasionally.... Now I can't wait to see the knives pop back up.

I had: 2, 9, 14, 13, 10, necker proto, 16, 4 &17 same time, trading 10 for them. New 2, Camillus BK10.

Now have: clipped 2, 2, 9, 13, 14, proto

Probably gonna get rid of my 14 as well. Never use the 13.

One of mine was blunt at the tip also. From what I have read that is not common but not unheard of either.

All four of mine have blunt tips and they all came from different vendors. Gotta set up the worksharp and hit 'em on that real quick.

I use the same standard for knives as I use for ammo. If your floor can support the weight of your stash, you don't have enough.

Let's see... 8 inch thick, 65-years old, age-hardened concrete floor ... I think I'm good to go for a few more tons of steel then. :D :D :D

uggs seem like pretty stupid boots. pass.

Thank you all for the kind-hearted Birthday wishes for Miss Angie :) We both appreciate your support and friendship!

I saw a girl wearing uggs with short shorts and a tank top today in the post office. The temp was 81. Why would someone wear that kind of boot in this weather? Sure didn't look fashionable. Nice view, but not fashionable.

LMAO your not hurting my feelings none, since you commented on the uggs and not the sorel, these must be more your cup of tea, and these are the worse looking things i ever seen.

Sorels... when I was a kid in Northern WI we called 'em pac boots and they were by far the best thing going for really cold weather and/or deep snow. Waterproof shells and thick wool/felt liners. Cold wet feet absolutely ruin your day...

Much like fleece-lined "choppers" (leather mittens) and fleece/woolen hats... Warm feet, warm hands, and warm noggin... you can survive almost anything.

That was years ago though, and I honestly don't know if Sorels are still any good. I moved South for a reason.. deathly cold climates just plain suck. :D

I have never had either, Uggs or Sorels but going off looks alone those sorels are just hideous and anything would beat them dang near.
