I lived in and explored some pretty harsh Northwoods for damn near 40 years and never knew a single person who claimed Sorels looked pretty. We only liked 'em because they were waterproof and warm. Also, remarkably light-weight compared to most "modern" winter boots.

"Anything would beat them"? Doubtful.

You guys how something looks is a personal preference. I never said i think one would work better than the other only which one i thought looked better. When the sorels were posted i didnt attack the poster for posting boots i thought were hideous i simply posted ones i thought looked nice, i simply said i like the LOOKS of these but would never get them due to the price and people talked crap about the Uggs and this is the snark thread so i played a long... A PERSONAL preference, i said going off LOOKS ALONE.

Jonny gets it! I didnt care he didnt agree with what i liked, I laughed my butt off at his post. like what you guys like and ill do the same, crack a joke on the Uggs as i did the sorels, its nothing to be taken serious.

The people who like the Sorels, like Bear Grylls, are the ones who would drink their own Urine :D Carry on light hearted on the topic its opinion based when it comes to the looks, have fun with it, that is what i was trying to do. Not cause a true debate or argument.
 
Got about 1/2" on the ground now. Luckily it's cold so the snow is all powder. Hopefully it's blown off the roads by the time I head home because I drove my little 2wd s10 today, no snow tires or weights or anything. After I get home I want it to dump a foot. My trusty K5, Waldo, does awesome in the snow.
 
Had a whole day of assessments at a large financial institution. Every couple of hours some people were sent home, but I was allowed to stay until the end. Only thing I can hear from them now is a) we liked your candidacy but have decided not to go any further with you or b) get over here and sign that damn contract. I hope for the latter :)
 
Good Luck Gshark! And good morning everybody! It's gonna be a good day. I'm off all day and it's getting kinda cold outside. Plus, I've got some free firewood to pick up and start splitting! :D
It's supposed to sleet and freeze on Sunday so I'll be chilling in front of the fireplace. :thumbup:
 
Beef and chicken pastelillos with hot sauce and coconut water for breakfast! Delicious.

There are only a few things i will miss about this city when i move. fresh pastelillos at any hour for a dollar will be one of them.

Of course it just depends on what store you go in as what they are called Empanadas, Pastelillos, Pastelitos, Empanadillas.... But 24 hours a day pastelillos are only a few minute walk from my door and cost a buck!

Pinchos too but they range from $1.50-$3.00

I'm finding myself answering a huge amount of emails. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I understand its all part of it and people deserve to know everything they need when buying a custom knife, but sometimes its apparent right from the get go that there not gonna be a deal struck.

A "Gentleman" emailed me the other day and said he was intersted in buying my kris blade dagger? I had to ask "which on would that be? I've only made one thus far. That was two years ago and it sold immediately"

To which he responded. "You mean you don't keep those in stock?"

Me: no,

Him: why not?

Me: Uh, because that knife took me 9 months to make. Which makes it impossible to "stock" as you say.

Him: Why would anybody spend 9 months on something like that? I could make that in a couple of hours.

Me: for the same reason you've waisted the last 1/2 hr of my life answering emails with stupid comments like that.

I don't think I'll be hearing back from him. Whadda shame.:rolleyes: sometimes all I can do is laugh and go on.

I would of told him to make me a few to stock then and have them ready by tomorrow :rolleyes:

Heat treated and all in a couple hours??? that guy is a magician !!!
 
Since Parkinson's has taken my mother's ability to talk, she's had a chart with various things printed on it to point at. "Turn off the light", "I need my sweater"...etc. Yesterday I added "Go to hell" to it. I've never seen her smile that big before. She couldn't wait to use that one on her "favorite" nurse. I'm such a good son. :D
