G10 is the best material for knife scales.

Yes it is very good, but the best? ... I don't know ... i like it! 🙃

and not all G10 is the same. Finding out how good your G10 is, its quality and where it is made can turn into a wonderful mystery adventure. I am guessing for knife handles it might be moot unless you expect some serious load bearing but still the mystery persists.

Rubbery materials are better than G10. I like G10 for its strength and how hygienic it is compared to other materials.

Handle material is not as important, if you have a strong grip. Grip strength is something not many people train nowadays.

I happen to like G-10 but to call it the best material for a knife handle it too much. There are many great handle materials.

It’s my favorite, because it’s (one of) the toughest, but the best? For me, yes, because toughness it’s allways my top priority, but others may prefer the touch of wood.

G10 is quite good, not really different than carbon, linen or canvas since they have the same basic plastic carrier. Prob better grip with canvas and burlap but linen and carbon are usually pretty smooth. G10 has a similar strength as carbon and those are considerably stronger than the other phenolics.
I think the OP is pretty much correct, for better grip just give it a rough or textured finish.

Best for what?
I like it for an outside user-knife that will be exposed to elements, but generally prefer linen or canvas micarta.
