G10 is the best material for knife scales.

Yo, let me tell you 'bout a knife handle material
That's tough and sturdy, you won't find it inferior
G-10's the name, and it's the real deal
Stronger than carbon fiber, micarta, and wood, it's no big deal

Carbon fiber may be fancy and sleek
But G-10's got the strength that you seek
It won't crack or break, it can handle the heat
G-10's the one to choose, you won't be beat

Micarta may look cool and have a nice texture
But when it comes to durability, G-10 is the best measure
It won't absorb moisture, won't warp or swell
G-10's the way to go, it'll serve you well

Wood may be classic and give you that natural feel
But G-10's got the toughness, it's a big deal
It won't split or splinter, it's built to last
G-10's the one to trust, don't let it pass

So when it comes to knife handles, G-10 is the king
It's strong, durable, and can take a good swing
Don't settle for less, choose G-10 with confidence
It's the ultimate choice, it's got the dominance!

I like g10 very much. But I wouldn’t say it’s the best. The polished G10 on the Spyderco Vallotton Subhilt is beautiful and different. But it can be slippery.

Canvas or linen micarta and stabilized wood are better in my opinion.
Linen Canvas Micarta, so fine,
A texture unique, to entwine,
With strength and beauty, hand in hand,
A material that's in high demand.

The canvas woven, tight and strong,
A texture that will last so long,
The linen fibers, woven tight,
A material that's a true delight.

From knives to pens, it's put to use,
A beautiful material, hard to refuse,
In its texture, stories abound,
A material both strong and profound.

Linen Canvas Micarta, a true art,
A material that's captured the heart,
Of craftsmen and women, who know its worth,
A material that's both strong and with mirth.

Doesn't hurt that it's easier to machine, too...

Did you come up with that one?! 😂🤣

I avoid G10 if I can. Micarta or Ti all day. CF as a 3rd choice. Some brands are G10-only, so I either grit my teeth and bear it or quickly replace the stock G10 scale with aftermarket. :)

I pefer micarta to G-10. Paper Micarta for a slicker look and Linen Micarta for a tougher look. G-10 and Carbon Fiber don't warrant the extra cost, because they have no great advantages over Micarta. Natural materials like wood and bone are too fragile.

I do like G10, it's tough and impervious. It can be textured to give good grip. There is no best though.

I used to use quite a bit of G10 for scales, not so much anymore. I like it for liners or as part of a composite handle, but have started leaning more towards micarta.
Grab a heavily used micarta handle is like grabbing a used underwear. New, OK, used, not so much.
