Ganzo knives any good?

Many will run you through the ringer here for this OP. I have a g721 that I use for opening mail and packages and it is superbly done for a $12 auto. It is the only Chinese knife I own. I would not buy any of their knockoff models though.

Ganzo is the company founded by the twin brother of Gonzo, the muppet. He travels the world stealing designs from hardworking knife makers so that people can buy the el cheapo version. A true Robin Hood of patent infringement indeed.

Seriously, I would rather carry Gerber Bear Grylls than anything by Ganzo.

I have multiple Paramilitary 2 and love them, big Spyderco fan. The Ganzo looks like a good cheap alternative I want to get for a friend to try, thanks.

If this is even a serious thread, why not give him one of your real PM2's (since you have multiples) to try and if he likes it, he can buy his own, pay you for the one you give him, or let him keep it as a gift. If he doesn't like it, he can give it back.

I have a couple of their autos. At first they seemed decent but the blade steel I found to be super soft. Like scary soft. Not sure if i got a dud but im not wanting to try again.

Blade steel for the money is fantastic. Build quality for the money is good. Support is nonexistent. Designs are rather clear they are from someone else. This forum will massacre anyone interested in them. They aren't a bad knife for the money but they aren't popular here for the "borrowing" of designs.

Blade steel for the money is fantastic??? Ok......exactly which steel is it?? Can you possibly say for sure???
NOPE. You are getting exactly what you're paying for.

The buck bantam is only 20$ and is actually made in America unlike some affordable options from other companies. This is the knife I suggest over a ganzo as the other options ( if Ontario or ka-bar outsourced their options were outscored to save money, and that's a bad trend )

Newspeak for stolen.

Newspeak for stealing.

OP, let him borrow one of your real Spydercos. If he likes it, let him buy it from you, buy one of his own, or just give one to him as a gift.

How many times has the Buck 110 been copied or the CZ handgun. Everything is copied if it's successful. The courts are packed with Mfg's suing Mfg's over everything under the sun for Patents, copy rights etc. etc. Patents last to long all they do is inflate prices and kill competition. 3/4 of the world doesn't believe in patents. A knife that gets copied isn't the biggest deal anyway. I'll let the attorneys determine if patents are at issue or not and I'll buy whatever I wish. I owe the Mfg. nothing more than the money I pay for their product, whether the product is a copy or not, I own nothing to the original Mfg. My bet is everyone has a house full of Chinese products, are you sure where they all came from.

What do you guys think about Ganzo knives and how well do they hold up?

You question is two parts, first:

"What do you guys think about Ganzo knives?"

Which will result in many negative comments, because Ganzo steals the designs of many American manufacturers.

And the second part:

"how well do they hold up?"

They hold up just fine and are a great deal for the price and materials.

Very simple:

The good: great knives for your dollars.
The bad: steal designs.

Meh, there are plenty of use reviews that show the steel isn't bad, especially for $10-$20. I can't say anyone's steel is or isn't what they say. I have no testing instruments and take the word of all manufacturers. People who have used them seem to think the steel is great for the $10-$20 price point, regardless of what the composition is named.

Newspeak for stealing.
Every knife manufacturer is stealing something from the design aspect. It's a bottom feeder price point knife. I'd suggest it over the $4 knives that Walmart sells if that's the competition. At least the Ganzo knives don't have an unsafe reputation, just "unethical". Still, I'd rather use the Rat2. That's my go to budget knife without a doubt. I don't own a Ganzo and doubt I will but let's not act like anyone here isn't borrowing something from someone else without compensating them. Beyond that it's all legalities which I'll let the lawyers deal with.

They have crazy thick edges in general which means they need a lot of work to make them good cutters.

He is talking thick behind the edge, which lowers cutting performance, not spine thickness.

The company is trash and I wouldn't be able to gift one because I wouldn't feel right knowing the background of the company is based solely in profit at the cost of everything else.
Likely even user safety.

Regardless of country of origin, buy legit or don't buy at all.

I do like my reground ganzo. Fun knife to play around with, holds the edge reasonably well, I usually carry it outside when going bow shooting and did use it to cut an arrow or two out of wood or a stubborn target.
If you want a knife to play around with, maybe try messing with the grind or the scales, it will work just fine.
The rest is just politics.

Well...they are not "homages" !? In wristwatch world, people call these kinda product homage. Fancy world for a near replica on design except brand name.
