i got a new large micarta seb. anyways there is a very very tiny gap between the thumbstud and the blade. keep in mind it is VERY tiny gap im wondering if this is normal. also its only on right side of the stud.any input helps. before someone ask no the thumstud doesnt move at all its rock solid. infact most people that had this knife would never ever notice this in a million years its that miniscule. just curious if others have this. thanks guys

After looking at pics I've realized this is normal. I'm serial killer crazy when it comes to details lmao.

Now that I've asked around to my friends seems nobody has a large seb with a completely flush fitted thumstud. Weird.

Well my guess would be the blade is not completely flat and contoured just a little where the thumbstud is installed.

Im not sure I follow what you mean ? All the Sebenzas I have now have the stud totally flush with the blade, there is a chamfer round the base of the stud where it sits on the blade but it sits totally flat and fully contacting the flat of the blade. There is no light visible at all on my knives under the thumb stud, does you knife show that ?

It's not on the chamfered side it's on the side where the thumbstud sticks out. There's barely a hint of light showing through. The stud just doesn't sit 100% flush with the flat of the blade. The right side of it just barely sits up off the blade. Barely noticeable.

Is this different from yours ? I can see no light under the base of the stud at all.

Yes mine is slightly higher on what would be the left side in that pic. Just barely enough for light to creep through.

Ah, got ya. I would think that is something one would not expect to see. I have never noticed it on any of my knives, but I have also never really looked for it either though.

That is indeed a pita, but I dare say you could just press it down on your own.......

How do you think would be a good idea to do that?

I dont think it would be a good idea to do that, even if you have an arbor press. CRK uses loctite or similar when they install them ( they show it in the CRK dvd ). Doing so could crack the blade as seen in some pics here on the forum. The blade could crack in that thin area between the thumbstud and the spine, then you have a whole new problem.

I have had tons of sebenzas, but never noticed such an issue, never really looked for it actually.

Looking at HAZE's pic, it looks like there is a small chamfer at the base, so it would give the appearance of a gap. I am not going to get mine out now to check, but its really a non issue I think..........I know you like your knives perfect though....lol. Is it really worth aprox. $25 shipping ( assuming your getting priority mail, dc, insurance ) to and from to fix...?

I mean it really isn't a issue at. Infact it's something almost nobody would catch besides me. But it's driving me crazy so it either has to go or go in to crk. I have a sickness man.

Is it really that bad though...? I mean, its not like the stud is going to fall out. PM me some pics if you could.

No it's not bad at all. You can just barely see a glimpse of ligh on one side. Just barely. My camera isn't good enough to even capture it lol. I'm just very very anal man. Always have been. Hence why I buy crks lol.

Hey, I hear ya. They do have the tightest tolerances in the industry.
