Gathering - Saturday, January 14th

Hi folks -

Could we cook something on-site, something like beans and cut up wieners etc? I could bring some beans and hotdogs and we could heat it up on the fire.

Just one suggestion.

Alternatively, I could go to my local butcher shop and get some of their spicy polish and some cheese franks to do over the fire.

Hey mqqn, that sounds pretty good to me! I think I can bring a nice onion, green pepper and throw a spice bag together to add to the beans and hotdogs! That's one of my favorite things! No Steve! Not that kind of spice bag! LOL! The polish and cheese franks sounds pretty good too! How about I bring a big bag of chips and the Marshmallows (John)? LOL!
Let me know, if that will work!

John, I e-mailed you and asked you if you thought you might have the knife finished but, if you don't, don't worry about it! I know I will have it soon! If you have the sheath for my "Original" fixed, you could bring that too!

I'll be watching to hear from you guys!

mqqn- use the money for the sKraper for the meat, that sounds tasty. Tom- chips and marshmallows sound good! (love toasted marshmallows!) Your knife, and sheaths will both be ready, I heat treated blades at 2 this morning, they are tempering now.

Just a thought, maybe we should grab the shelter right by the parking lot? Besides the big fireplace, there are grills to cook on right there. There are also some nice trails that circle around and come back right by it.

I just started a new thread, "Food List For The 14th." Please post what you will be bringing there.
Thanks!

We will meet at the farthest parking lot from the entrance around 8:00. Watch your speed going through the park!

We got us a damn fine turn-out for such short notice. Cool!

Jeff

I`m really pleased about the turn out, plus there are still a few more "possibles." Looks like there should be 3 Traplines there!

Looks like Kirill is going to join us again -

I gave him his first JK for Christmas - the last ditch survival knife - he likes Kiridashi style blades.

Hi John -

I just remember the story about the eggs and the counting and the hatching, but I know there will be a yellow truck slowly crawling it's way down the hill in McKinley Woods with 30 sticks of meat to cook and one fat guy at the wheel - that you can count on!

Looks like we will have some snow and cold weather - I will try to bring some firewood as well -

Are we going to hike out to the regular spot, or will we set up in the shelter near the parking area?

As for the spot, we will just play it by ear, depending on the weather. It`s 52 here today, tomorrow they are talking 2-4" of snow!

I am going to try and make it. I got the work schedule sorted out but I will have to leave around noon. Also depends on the weather!

Hi L4NE4 -

Awesome! Just be sure to obey the 5mph speed limit in the park.

best regards
