Gayle Bradley 2

Got my order in...hope they are on the way soon. Can't wait to have it acid washed to that black perfection!

Anyone heard anything on when these will be out? I have mine ordered and received the mid year catalog update with it included. Anxiously awaiting this one.

Anyone hear anything about this? This is easily one of my most sought after knives this year

I bough the original GB and sold it soon after. As far as quality goes, it was flawless. My first thought was it was a Sebenza killer. But... it was just too big, and too heavy. I knew it when I bought it, but I couldn't resists. I don't think the original was much of a looker either. The handle looks like a turd.

I'm stoked on this new design though. It's a really good looking blade now. It reminds me of a McHenry Williams design. I'm still partial to 3 inch blades, but if it's sleek and lightweight I think I'll like it.

I like the unique look of the original. I admit though, that the GB2 is a cleaner design. I'm very curious to see what it's like to hold. The thinner handle and lighter weight could make it a better EDC.

Yeah, I think a lot of us wanted the GB to be an EDC knife, but the reality is that it was designed as a working knife for working people, and NOT as an EDC. Ergonomics, weight, blade shape, etc., were all designed around a heavy-use utility purpose. I don't mind heavy knives, so EDCing the GB wasn't really problem for me. But I was always surprised at how much better the PM2 or Military carried whenever I'd swap out a GB for something else.

That being said, the GB2 seems much more oriented toward a EDC roll (not that it won't be able to stand up to heavy use), rather than being a redesign of the "working knife" patter of the original.

I REALLY wish the two would stay in production, because they are, in my opinion, two different knives functioning in two different capacities.

I wish they kept the integrated choil. It is one of my favorite feature on my GB.

I called Spyderco and talked to a guy about when the GB2 would be released. He said the last they had heard was that it was about two months away from release.

I'm sure that the OG GB will stay in stock for at least another year or 2. Seem to be plenty of people out there that really LOVE theirs. I mean i have 2 myself. You plan on picking up a 2 Jed?

If I can get the funds together, I'd like to! Probably wait till peeps start putting them on the Exchange when they realize they shouldn't have preordered them! :p

That's like having polar opposite opinions on how the Endura looks compared to the Delica.

GB2 for the most part is just smaller and streamlined.

The new GB 2 loses the unique characteristics of the original. The choil area which looks like a turtle neck to me, the non-centered pivot which results in the rear of the blade sticking out of the handle when closed. All this has been streamlined away.

Yeah, they still look very much the same to me as they share 100% of the same DNA. Heck, they even have the same name. My only point was that it's odd to call one ugly and the other beautiful but it's just an opinion and everyone is entitled.... but to me it's like calling the PM1 or Millie beautiful then calling the PM2 ugly  A lot of space in between.

All in all, I'm very excited for the GB2 and mind you, most of us except those who have gone to the shows have not had one in hand yet so passing judgement now pre production holds little weight. I owned up to three Bradley's at one time and also an Air so I am quite a fan.

There's always those who freak out when a design they like gets updated which is perfectly understandable. Happens every time.

A lot more often than not though, the newer models do just fine. Just look at their catalog which is full of models with numbers at the end ;)

The strange thing about the alterations to the GB is that everything that they have changed are the unique features that I like about the original knife .
I will do my best to get my hands on the new model ( difficult here in Australia ) but it will somehow feel like I'm being unfaithful and dishonest to the original ethos of why it was designed .
I'll never sell my original one , it has kept its end of bargain and done everything it promised it would .
Its kind of sad that a knife that was designed without compromise is now being ....... compromised .
