Gayle Bradley Hard Use

When/if you take it apart for cleaning, you'll be amazed at how over-engineered it is, for the price it sells for.

This is my GB pre-Patina. I've been using the heck out of it and it's developing some nice patina.

Great knife...mucho bang for your buck for sure..

One phenomenon about liner locks that has always annoyed me is that during heavy cutting tasks where a lot of cutting force is applied, the liner tends to engage further and then become really hard to disengage. I guess it's primarily a function of how much the knife/frame flexes during cutting. How pronounced is this effect with the GB?

The liners on the GB are so thick, it's almost a frame lock.
Also the geometry in the lock is so well thought, no sticky lock after hard use for me.
Mine is the 1st gen with non skeleton liners. And it's my hard chore folder. :-)
Cheers Nemo

The GB has no flex whatsoever. Here's a comparison shot between a CF Military, C95 original Manix, and the GB:

That bothers me too. Not sure if it's flex or screw hole tolerance perhaps? Anyway, with my Bradley if I apply max cutting pressure the liner will engage a little further but it does not get sticky.

I am a GB fan.. I have owned 20+ Sebenzas, zaans over the past 3 years..

CRK's S30v, S35v doesn't hold a candle to the GB M4!!

And the GB is only 300+ dollars cheaper.

I get the whole CRK quality thing.. But really.. Come on.. I wanna knife where I don't have to run the the sharp maker every other day...cause I opened 3 boxes and 10 envelopes:)

Oh.. But I get to send to CRK for a SPA once in awhile.. Meanwhile my carbon fiber GB scales look like new after 2 years of use..

I loved every CRK I owned for the beauty.. But at 57-58 RC the whole experience was a joke..

Just calling it like it is..

If I hadn't been lucky enough to get on the list for one of these, then I'd probably have and love a GB by now. the CPM M4 is incredible.

Though there's a possibility I try out a GB one of these days anyways :p

Thank you. This is EXACTLY my experience too.

I have started to think about this knife recently. I am slowly getting over my distrust of Taiwanese knives and I want to try M4. I just wish this knife was less than $150 new.

You get what you pay for, but for the price, the Bradley is an incredible value. The steel, workmanship, scales, liners, fit & finish are all excellent on mine. It has to be one of the great knives made by Spyderco. Not only does it look classy, it is a functional design which will stand up to hard use and still maintain its excellent finish and appearance over time. Thanks Sal for a great design & execution!

Picked mine up for $135, even at $150 it is worth every penny.
