Interesting bit of history there, Charlie. Had no idea he wanted to call them Red Neck. When I was growing up in a small town in Southern Indiana, that was an insult the rich kids used on us poor kids.A little history of the Farm&Field brand!
Bill started out calling these knives Red Neck knives, until he found out another guy was using that name!! Even though he had permission to continue, Bill opted to change to the Farm&Field name, rather than risk future legal wrangles!!
I think he changed from 01 tool steel to 1095 a short time after, by 2015!!!!View attachment 2420490View attachment 2420493View attachment 2420494
Stand by - if I manage to reel one in it will be a user for sure!On their website it says that the farm and field was designed to be an affordable day to day knife for people to use practically that can't afford to be buying their higher end knives.
I doubt many make it into the hands of any other than collectors.
It'd be good to see them as a standard line, not my kind of knife, but I do think people should be able to own a gec with pride and as I see it the greatest calling for a knife is to be properly used.
Amen to that, when I ordered my FP sportsman laguiole in mammoth I figured it'd be too good not to have as my deer hunting knife.Stand by - if I manage to reel one in it will be a user for sure!
In my book, there ain't no such a thing as a knife that's too good to use - but there are definitely some that are too good not to!
