Here is one I gave to my dad for Christmas. It has a nice soft easy pull on both blades.

Comparison to a #73 trapper.

With a #23 and #73

I was trying to get a photo of the irradesent Mexican Bocote on this photo, but my old crappy camera was having none of it.

The GEC's #25 are cute little gems....that's my 2 cents...
( Don't have any Barlow....much less an Gec. )

Isn't that bocote a nice wood! I've got a barlow on the way and had a hard time deciding between ebony and bocote. Your pics almost makes me wish I had opted for the bocote. I have a feeling though that more 25's are in my future. Great thread!

Finally took some pics, then realized the size of my collection was greater than I thought

Nice pictures. How is the blade pull on the Bulldog? That 3" frame appeals to me, but I don't like hard to open blades.

Thanks for trying, all the same. I'm familiar with the depth-of-wood effect, and with that in mind your picture points to how it must look in real life. I like seeing the knife in comparison to others as well. :thumbup:

The Bulldog is about a 4-5, very easy to pinch open but not so easy that I'd be worried that it would close too easy.

And thanks Rick and ~P, I know they aren't great photos compared to many here, I'm just glad to be able to post 'em finally.

Believe me, I know what you mean! When I figured it was going to be Barlow month I realized I only have one 'real' 2 blade Barlow, my Queen Dan Burke, so I just had to get another GEC with traditional sawcut handles.

These are much older now from when these were reasonably priced

The bone color has faded to almost white

When I first posted this one, there was much derision on the Acrylic, but later folk here accepted acrylic as a handle material

I take it the bone was more yellow when it was new? I like that one a lot.

As for the acrylic-- Northern Lights?

It's funny how a pattern might not stand out over another in others' repeatedly-viewed pictures, then suddenly it's all you see (and maybe want)? Maybe sort of like when you've put money down on a car, and then you see them Everywhere?

Either way, I knew I liked GEC's purple haze, but it was only after seeing your picture above that it registered in my brain as a purple haze barlow:

Yeah, that helps. O'course, Blue Haze would work, too, and still evoke this pattern's colloquial moniker, "Starry Night."

@ Pertinux.

The soft pull on my dad's barlow was simple luck.

It would have been too soft for my tastes, but I like the hard snap on mine. It is just fine to open. The pen is lighter, and just right for me too.
