Aw, Jeez.

(That's the sound of "Blue" registering in regards to a previously bypassable-without-regrets knife.)

Focus on the cutlery, please. Threads in this forum are supposed to be about knives, not where to buy them. Threads in the "For Sale by Dealers Forum" are about where to buy.

I'll take this opportunity to reinforce the above statement. We've got some great dealers here and we thank them for their support but this is not the place to discuss where we can buy or from whom. Let's keep the discussion to the knives.

Uh oh. GEC has new pics up right now, blood red jigged bone, threaded and pinched bolsters, Northfields UN X LD shield. This ones going to be hard on the wallet I fear.

Hi,

Sweet Mother Mary Mcgee! This isn't fair at all! These are so nice looking. Normally I don't go for acrylics, but the brown one that Pertinux posted is calling. The pinched bolsters and threading are so right on this pattern.

Please, please let there be an Ebony version.
I'm doomed. :hypnotysed:
:D
And I love that the coping blade is rounded. Which makes it a sheepsfoot I guess?

I do like the three-bladed knives and was pretty content with the Gepetto Whittler as my first, one and only GEC but I kept looking at the pictures, reading and seeing how great the ebony looked on these knives, and then the Conductor Whittler appears. It is just a bit smaller and more pocketable but still over three inches, making it still quite useful and versatile. This pattern and the split backspring keep it as slim and compact as possible and that ebony just looks stoic. I couldn't resist. Looks like this one is going to bump the 57 out of my pocket for now.

Well, it was waiting for me when I got home today!! This is an exquisite piece of metal and wood. I'm not very adept at doing reviews, so this will be more just first impressions from me.

Obviously, comes in the familiar tube and wax paper. This is my first Ebony handled knife, so I only have other pics to compare it with, but it has nice, tight, straight grain with streaks of chocolate. I can only imagine how well it will look in a few years.

After wiping excess oil, I got a good look. Nice, tight joints at the handle/bolsters. Shield is nicely set, with no gaps. Pins are not too proud, not too deep. Just right.

Springs are nice and flush in all positions, although when opened, the spine sits ever so slightly below the springs on all 3 blades. Sorry, I didn't get a pic of that. And the pulls, oh they are nice! This has no hint of being a nail breaker, even for the pen and coping blades. If I were to guess, I would say a 5-6 for the main blade, and 4-5 for the smaller 2.

I included a couple pics with my Chestnut bone 'nut for a size comparison.

I hope you enjoy this little overview as much as I enjoy this knife!

Thanks for the mini review gruntmedik  Looks real good!
Can't wait to get mine, and I'll tell ya, might have to order another, that crushed pineapple is really calling me - would be my first GEC acrylic

I'd love to get my hands on the denim and tuna ones... My pair of ebonys came in today. Gruntmedik's review hold true for mine as well.

Wish I hadn't had seen this. I had an older #33 in Burnt Stag, that was really great, but these acrylics have caught my eye, just looks interesting, and sorta outlandish (in a good way). Kind like some of the old Imperials with the crazy celluloid handles.
