GEC 39 Old Sheffield Jack

If they would have used a zulu spear instead of the straight one this knife would have broken the internet. A 3.5” zulu spear with a curved handle? The GEC 39 could have been the biggest news since the 93 lambsfoot.

now now, the elderberry 92s came out alright. well the bone did. the spring was weak and i got some blade rap. and the jigging kinda fell apart, it started to chip with carry. but the coloring held up. that was solid.
I’ll give you that one. The elderberry 92’s did have consistent dark color. Maybe it is just the elderberry camel bone that needs to be changed.

Another example of a misleading promotional picture from 2018. All of the examples from this run of 77’s were actually pink.

Yeah, these were my thoughts as well. Remember Mike's 77 run of Elderberry Camel Bone? Those were a special kind of bright pink...

Elderberry Camel Bone has notoriously been pink, other examples that use cattle bone have been terrific like the 92, the 82, the 78, etc.

fair deuce, suppose the common denominator be camel bone then

i wonder how many ended up getting rescaled. alas lets see how the 39s play out. With the bladeforums shipping soon, im good on the pattern as it has the clip, so I wont have a dog in the race.

"Elderberry" 😏

I think a few engaged in some re-dye efforts with some good results. I don't mind the variety in GEC's camel bone runs, it makes every knife unique (for better or worse). That said, in general, I don't think they let the dye saturate enough in either camel or bovine.

Maybe they should not try to name their dye jobs until they are finished. They could be labeled as smooth or jigged bone on the production schedule and then if they turn out pink they could be named Hot Pink bone. We wouldn’t even know what they had originally intended.

These are finished.

I think they look fantastic. I don't see many of the 77 elderberries on the 2ndary.🤔

Other than the spear blade, I love everything on this knife, I’ve skipped a few releases lately, aint skipping this one😎
As waynorth waynorth Charlie has already pointed out, Spear blades would've been the blade of choice in the c19th Sheffield.

I much PREFER this over The Forum Knife and would really like to get one  Camel is kool and if the dye comes out Pink then I've got a nice strong Tea bath waiting.

This is going to be a versatile pattern and could house some good single blades mrknife mrknife ;) Drop Point, Sheepfoot, Wharncliffe, Lamb Foot etc etc.

conrad gutierrez conrad gutierrez Good luck with getting one, hope you manage it.

Thanks, Will

I'm with you 100% Will Power Will Power , I'd take a spear over a clip in a small knife like this any day. And whatever leftover pink scales I end up with on the secondary market can by dyed easily - if only it could be made to look like the catalog photo... 😍 It would be great to see this pattern in a sheepfoot main as well...
