GEC #48 Dogleg Jack

sadly, i just realized i let one of these go on ebay the other day. It was a 48 and a couple of days ago I had no idea why GEC knives were so expensive so I made some offers and they were all rejected. now im kicking myself for lowballing and losing out on it.

I Love the 48, so I'm really happy about this development. I hope they do jacks but would be happy with trappers as well. It makes sense since KSF has a run of Hawthornes coming up.

oh, I didn't know about the Hawthornes. Thanks for sharing...

GEC, are you listening? (PLEASE) How about a stainless jack, clip and sheepfoot, like the old Schrade pattern.

I would prefer carbon, but I would buy that knife regardless of steel choice. They could use melted down beer cans for all I care!
I would rather see a full clip instead of the muskrat that's on the Schrade 93ot, though, but that's just a minor preference.

I just got my 2 ebony tidioutes in. One trapper and one jack.

Love the jack, handsome knife that's easily pinchable but with confident snap.

The trapper, on the other hand... This is the first GEC knife I've ever handled that had a lazy snap. Hard to even believe, but it does. The pull is probably a 2-3 and the snap is too weak for me to consider tolerable. The pull and snap on the spey blade are fine. This one's going back.

In good news, they did a really nice job on the pins with these. Not proud, not sunk... just right.

Oh... and they're nice and sharp.

I got the lazy snap with my 2015 scout 15.I immersed it sudsy clean washing up water and opened and closed a few times.Dried thoroughly and oiled. Snapps like a snapping turtle thats just been crowned king of snappiness at a mousetrap convention.

I could go for the improved version and it would be nice to see something different than the usual covers. Maybe a MOP, Blonde buffalo horn, or Ram's horn.

Is this your Wharncliffe Trapper, Brett? Gorgeous! Really like the way the photo emphasizes the iridescent handles.
