GEC 68 Pony Jack 2021

My knife sucks. Soft weak close and a proud blade. Can I send to GEC being I purchased on the secondary?
That sucks, especially since the overwhelming feedback is so positive. GEC will not fix on warranty if you are not the original owner. It does sound like something is fouling the action. I would run the hottest water you can and work the blade with soap and water under the tap. Make sure you dry and oil it very well when your done.

Wow ! Anyone who has tried 167 ought to know.
Guess I got lucky the two Whiteowls that I own still have no blade rub.

Since this is a 2021 Pony Jack thread, here's a pic of mine

It’s the perfect pocket weight. Love the wood. May just have to sacrifice the action and carry it. Seller said they would take it back but would have to send to them first and make sure nothing changed with knife and he would send back money. Seems foolish being that he said nothing about the lame action in first place. Rock and a hard place

I have several Pony Jacks and none of them have any issues at all with action. It seems really weird what you are describing and, as mentioned above, sounds like it may have gotten something small wedged into the action which is screwing it up. Did you try flushing it out yet? I would flush with WD40 myself, and inspect with a light and magnifier. I have had many knives (new and old) free up beautifully after a good flush.

It’s hard for us to say because honestly “proud blade” can mean a lot of different things. GECs aren’t perfect BUT they’re consistently very good so the odds that the knife is really defective (can’t be fixed with a simple cleaning) are somewhat low.

I tried twice with soap and water and oil and not helping. If you have a number I can send a video and maybe you can advise. Thanks anyway. Can try wd40 next

You could try using compressed air also, working it open and closed between shots. I use my air compressor for that while it's soaked with mineral oil or wd40.

So it hangs up right at the end and can then be pushed down, and stays? That’s odd. If it were just a little proud like that ordinarily I’d suggest filing the kick of the blade a bit, allowing the blade to fall lower… but in your case it seems like there’s an obstruction inside the blade well or between the blade and liner that’s preventing it from closing all the way.

Yea. It kinda clicks when have to push it down. I dk. I tried to clean and oil it twice. Just seems weak with no snap and stops proud. Pretty annoying

I flush mine with the blade open at different positions, I also use an old tooth brush to get into it.
