GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

I prefer them. I really wish I had gotten and kept one of the double main #77s with the big wharncliffe. Especially in stag or abalone.

This blade combination is about the best though, clip main and coping secondary. Super utilitarian.

Those look great, can't wait to see the elderberry.

I really wish I had that one too.

This is looking very promising. I first thought that was the Elderberry, but was corrected that it is the sawcut blood red. I hope the Elderberry is as saturated and retains rich color after polishing. The Ironwood looks like it will every bit as spectacular as the 78’s were.

Ramrodmb Ramrodmb I have never bought one of these from Mike. Will he just randomly ship them or will buyers be able to choose?

Those do look promising!
I think that looks like the Blood Red sawcut though! It looks like they might have some darkness on them!

Yeah that's the Sawcut per the "what's happening" captions. That Ironwood! Wowz - gonna be a hot knife.

Mmm...

Yes. The "TC" on Tom's Choice barlows actually stands for "Tidioute Cutlery" and not "Tom's Choice". "NF" is for "Northfield".
What the TC stands for is an interesting point. From what I recall, Charlie owns the TC bolster die stamp. If he should (heaven forbid) ever move production of the TC Barlow to a different manufacturer, I doubt the Tidioute Cutlery moniker would move with it.

If I am wrong about anything I just stated, anyone can feel free to correct me.

If I am correct, I believe the TC stands for Toms Choice :D

That was my understanding as well, but I am by no means an expert.

ETA: I just did some research and it appears that "TC" does in fact stand for Tidioute Cutlery and "Tom's Choice" is the blade etch that appears on clip blade TC Barlows. I just learned something new.

May I ask a dumb question. What does the Nf boslter stamp stand for? Northfield?

It does stand for Northfield but based on how rare they are and the prices they typically sell for, other possibilities are "Never Found" or "Need Financing" - I am sure there are other possibilities I haven't thought of.......yet.

Tom Cruise. Ned Flanders?

Great Eastern makes those Large Madison Barlows for Northwoods.

At GEC, there is a new run of Harness Jacks, and regular sized Barlows, both coming out by the end of February or so.
The Barlows will have the TC bolster (Tidioute Cutlery), and the Harness Jacks will be Un-X-Ld, with a diamond shield.

Although I wouldn't say this is 100% definitive, I'm pretty sure the TC is for Tidioute Cutlery.

I think I've seen Charlie specifically say that "TC is for Tidioute Cutlery", but I couldn't find it, and won't swear to it.

I won't claim to be an expert, but I think Tom's Choice is mostly reserved for clip main.
