GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

I am super happy that folks are landing the knives they want in trades. I am very pleased with the two that I hung onto with no regrets regarding the other two variants.

I am rather surprised that there were some folks who assumed that these were single blade 77s. An expensive assumption... Fortunate for those of us who enjoy them though. :D

That would be an expensive assumption! I knew going in but couldn’t resist the chance at any 77 barlow. I’m thankful there ended up being trade opportunities that everyone could be happy with.

I really, really wanted a red saw cut, but I didn't get picked for any of the lotteries & was resigned to get one on the secondary market when the prices calm down a bit. I was lucky enough to score one of the edc saw cuts that were offered last week & that should hold me over until then.

I'm betting that in the least, the EDC's are gonna have some nice character about them. Often times though it's not that noticeable what the "flaw" actually is. Ironwood should be here tomorrow. Can't wait.

My edc came today. The "flaw" on mine is an irregularity in the saw pattern on the one cover. Not a big deal at all unless one wants it for a safe queen.

I wish I could appropriately capture the depth in the covers on my blood red saw cut...it seems impossible to get it in the pictures. When its not in the sun its a dark red but when in the sun it lights up!!! It' a beaut!

Mail call!

The 2016 spring green sawcut bone single blade of my desires has arrived AND Buzzbait Buzzbait threw in an extra stainless Navy knife because he’s such a generous fella (hope you don’t mind me saying so publicly!).

I’ve been hoping to get a stainless GEC eventually and now it’s going to replace the small sodbuster that got confiscated during my weekend trip!

Maybe I can get @traumkommode to agree to make this navy knife into a Lambsfoot and I’ll fulfill another knife goal.

Couldn’t be more thankful!

My second from this run arrived today. I’ll give it a couple weeks to think about it, but I’m pretty sure this one will be going into the EDC rotation also. GEC got a bit carried away with the polishing on this one, and took some of the sawcut off entirely. Just the excuse I needed to make it a user. I’ve been needing something to push me over the edge, to actually use a sawcut 77 for more than just pretty pictures.

The pull on the secondary of this one is very nice, fresh out of the tube. I’m also happy to report that a flush and oil worked miracles on the micarta secondary.

Hard for me to capture in photos but mine looks exactly like the twin of yours. And like yours it is now a user.
