GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

I'm still trying to capture the true colors in my chocolate brown African Blackwood sheepfoot.

All the ones I've seen are a deep rich ebony but in this right light the hues of brown really show through :D

I keep seeing good things about the blackwoods. Everyone loves them and they often seem to be the favorite. Need to get my hands on one :)

My AB 77 sheepfoot has not left my pocket since the day it arrived - over 3 months now... 100% EDC 24/7

It is nice Drew , but I think you have a nicer one , but that is just my opinion.I like the appearance of the Old Red Bone , but I like the feel in the hand of the Blackwood and Autumn Gold better because of the radiused end of the butt end of the handle.I do like the really dark chocolate look of the Blackwood. They are allllllllll nice to have.

Gorgeous Barlows you all have! I do love that Old Red bone. I'd love to have one in that color, will have to watch for one.

Meanwhile, I do love my baby...

I have noticed that you are kind of attached at the pocket to that one and it is starting to look very nice.I have one with the clip blade , but wish I had chosen the sheepsfoot.

Thank you Harry, I love the red one I have.

I have to say Arizona your dedication and love for that knife of yours is what I want to feel for one of mine. I am getting close on a couple:thumbup:

After reading about other people having QC problems I checked both my new Tan Sawcut and my earlier Blackwood sheepsfoot blades for spacing in the backspring, I must have got lucky because absolutely no light shining through. Are there any long term problems with spaces in the backspring/liners?
But I do have a question (I hope I can ask this here) I tried to use a dye marker, two different brands actually, on my newer Tan Sawcut to dye the bone and I left the stain on for 30 mins+ and nothing. All of it just wiped off. It feels like it has a clear coating on the bone covers, did anyone have this problem? If this not the right place please pm me. Thanks for any input!

I think that Paul Hilburn has some earlier postings that will answer your questions. I think he used some furniture dye.

All 3 of my Northfield Barlows have excellent F & F, as we would expect with the Northfield brand. I think a few folks have just been 'unlucky.'
