GEC 86’s for 2023

Looks like they are hurrying things a bit now. Can't wait to see what etch they put on Marrow Bone version, hope it is more modest than the River Town's. Slanted Northfield would be terrific, but think they put it only on satin blade versions recently.

Pretty sure that is "8622".

I’m talking about the number on the blade etch that appears just below "River Town". "8621" would make sense. Perhaps it Is just a function of the depiction on the first page of this thread.

Look at the tube art under the knife, it has the same number.

Barlows are not any stronger than a regular jack knife. The long bolster is just a marketing ploy.

IMO, on a knife, there is a slightly weakened point where the handle meets the main bolster. I have seen a few abused knives with a bend concentrated at that point!! (Ugly!!!) - A longer bolster (a barlow type) moves that weakness away from the blade pivot, and hence away from the concentration of "bending forces" under abusive conditions, thereby stiffening the knife, albeit marginally!!!
I respectfully disagree with you, though with scant scientific evidence!!!

(I am not about to destroy good knives to test this theory!!!!)

A lot of people like the clip on an 86. It’s hard to not love a nice spear on it though. Looks almost as if it was made for one. My brain loves symmetry

If i'm not happy with the grooves on mine (if i can snag one) i think i'll try to fill it with epoxy resin for a more "plain" feeling
