I never mentioned the process which is in every one of the posts you quoted, and which is also in what Peregrin posted above. The process. The poster to whom I responded specifically whined about folks discussing what they bought . . . not the process, which I understand is verboten, because the MODS (not him or you) have made that very clear here more than once and that needs to be respected.Sound advice
Poor advice
That is an interesting color pattern there.
Just like I get my steaks BBQed medium well!
AH HA!! There's MY forum knife again! It's the really awesome looking one
I think that’s my favorite of the one’s I’ve seen. Love the blend of the rich browns to solid black.
I think that because you were motivated to make this post Mr. Howard accomplished his goal. That is an interesting color pattern there.
I;ve seen pictures of a LOT of these knives. Some are "Well Done" and some are "Medium Rare." But a LOT of others are "Medium" and "Medium Well." So I'm not sure how well the cute little metaphor really applies.
The Micarta knives, at least, are much thinner than the first run of 86s (single blade variants). They feel closer to 77s/78s than the heavy jacks and previous forum knife and other single blade SFOs did.I have an 86 blackjack so I know how large 86s are, but every time I see an in hand photo of these, I always think “man those are big” lol. These forum barlows are going to be stout and I can’t wait.
with unicorn scales?!Wait GEC had a stockman run?
Are they red or hemlock green?with unicorn scales?!
Wow. Wow wow wow. These are the best photos I’ve seen yet. Yeah, that Micarta is really polished! Beautiful, thanks for sharing. These 86s are pretty nice. Got the red and black micarta today. Other than some leftover polishing compound they really nailed it. Perfectly centered, nice action. Excited for the others.

Wow either it’s late and my eyes are weary or this beautiful example kinda looks like kudu bone. Awesome score!
I apologize for responding to your quote out of context, and for any trouble it caused.I never mentioned the process which is in every one of the posts you quoted, and which is also in what Peregrin posted above. The process. The poster to whom I responded specifically whined about folks discussing what they bought . . . not the process, which I understand is verboten, because the MODS (not him or you) have made that very clear here more than once and that needs to be respected.
Now if the the mods really do not want folks here to post anything about what they "bought or didn't buy" (to quote the original whining poster), for example something like, "I'm so happy with these xxx knives I got," or "I decided to pass on that zzz knife because I didn't like how the Acorn was not cenetered on the bolster" then I wish they would clearly say so and leave "process" out of it. Maybe something like: "Don't mention what knives you bought or didn't buy, period," as the person to whom I responded wants folks to do. There. Very clear.
And it would suck, IMO. But my opinion, like yours, isn't worth squat. The Mods' opinions are the only ones that matter. So if they say we can't discuss what we "bought or didn't buy" then I will respect that rule, as the mods are in charge here, of course. And if they don't, then folks should respect that and stop complaining about what other folks post that are within the rules.
Someone mentioned the two blade Angus Jacks feeling thinner than the previous run of two blade jacks. Does any have a comparison shot?
