GEC #86 2021: Angus Jack, 2AB, Spring Street Barlow (BF Knife)

I gotta say, these 86's are off the charts. I have not been so excited for a new release of knives in a long time. The Angus Jacks, orange bone 2AB Barlow and the BF knife are all knives for the ages, in my opinion.

Yep. GEC tends to pair satin bolsters with canvas micarta.

very neat, i didnt know the subtle differences. friend of mine drive over to gec today to get some barlows and showed me a few pictures and I was surprised to see it. Wonder has this always been the case

Wow the BF knife looks incredible. I think this is going to be one of the most coveted knives GEC has ever and will ever produce. Looks like they might be a tick'or'two thicker than the 2ABs, hard to say from those pictures.

Hot of the Grill, my "Well Done" arrived yesterday!! I's a Bear of a knife!! My EDC Barlow weighs just over 2 ounces, and this Beefeater weighs in at 3 3/4 ounces!!

I believe they said no more canvas micarta on the northfield line (polished) around the time the 78s came out in 2018. IIRC, knifeswapper had to settle for linen on his SFO at that time. Since then, canvas and ironwood have been satin.
The buffing was discoloring the micarta, and putting ridges into the wood.

Got in a 86 barlow in od green micarta.

You can certainly trademark the name Bolster and Leatherman has. Not saying that's what happened but it's possible.

In my experience that mark would be struck down on even a basic challenge. There are several other pre-dating same marks as well.

Quarter pounder, no cheese! They knocked it out of the park with these. I was asleep at the wheel but really am digging the scans and photo's of this iteration. I am a huge fan of nail nicks same side on a two blade folder.

while I love bone covers, the 93 was too wide for me with that cover choice.
