Big fan of this one

Had to buy this one on the secondary market since it was impossible for me to get from dealers. I've decided it's a keeper.

I am sorry that you had to go to the Secondary Market for that my friend . Regardless of that , it is a very nice looking knife . You have some very desirable cover on it IMO . Wear it in good health .

Mine arrived early in the week, and it’s stunning. A bit more on the red side than I envisioned, but I never had a dog in the red vs brown fight so that bothers me not at all. F&F is nice and tight, and I like the domed pins, they add a bit of traction to my grip.

I think how much of the lighter shade shows up in the covers is a conscious decision by GEC…I have quite a range in my TCs including completely dyed butts as on the 2014 Anniversary and 2017 in cranberry. Even my rust red sawcuts are dyed pretty thoroughly on the butt end.0A6F6567-B633-49E1-AC5E-7F3E49AA4E5A.jpeg

I assume the blank gets dyed before being trimmed (or is it hafted?) to its final size.

Assuming the dye doesn’t go all the way through, the length and the width of the blank (relative to its final size) dictates how much undyed bone is revealed when it is trimmed.

If correct, this may explain why the butt shows more undyed bone than the sides.
