GEC absolutely NEEDS to make another good clip point with wharncliffe pattern!!!

Aesthetically, the parallel straight edge and spine with the long nick appeals to me because so many old timey knives in illustrated catalogs had them. From a practical point of view, using the tip complements what you can do with the clip point and the straighter edge is handy for some cutting tasks (and food prep).

One of my favorite SAKs was the old Victorinox Mauser. It had the ideal clip and long spear blades that I like as well (photo courtesy of Arizona Custom Knives).

Thank you!!! That was well put, and they are all very good reasons.

I see what you mean by them showing up in the old-timey catalogue illustrations. I just bought a PDF for a knife catalogue from 1908, for a bit of research into a certain blade shape, and the majority of them were spear points.
 
If you want it that bad, get a custom made.
It can be exactly as you wish.
Or make it yourself, the pattern of the wharncliffe trapper is online and free to use.

As much as I would absolutely love to do either of those options... it comes down to money. As a young man just starting out in the world I simply don't have the expendable income or just income in general to procure a custom slip joint. With that being said, making one is even more out of the question, since it cost way more to make them than to buy a custom. The tools and materials are all so expensive, and to top it off, to have a place to set up shop is the most expensive. I definitely plan on making them in the future tho!

If only I was born a trust fund baby😔

Those reasons are why I want GEC to make one, so I dont have to get a custom😂

Waiting for them to make the knife with 2 blades that we want can take a very long time . I really like the #73 pattern and it has been a verrrry long time since they made them . Think about a blade that will do everything very well . I have found that the most versatile blade shapes are the Sheepfoot and Lambfoot . The 2019 Blade Forums Knife is a great example IMHO . I waited a long time for a Wharncliffe Trapper and had to go to brand x to find one and have not regretted it .
It is made very well .

Yeah, I am aware that they make whatever they want and don't ask for opinions, they have made that clear, haha. Just as they are allowed to make whatever they want since they own the place, I am allowed to voice my discontent with their choices as a consumer. I know waiting will take forever, It already has. I am not under the impression that this sub-forum will actually do anything in regards to making GEC produce what I want. I thank you and everyone else trying to help me find alternatives, I really do, but I did not come on here with the problem of not being able to find alternatives, but because there is something specific I want, and that want it is not being met. It is more of a rant than it is a problem. This is not meant to be a productive conversation, but rather a entertaining one. I just wanted to vent my woes and see if those woes are shared among my fellow peers.

I did send an email to them actually asking them to produce a design with the things I mentioned or to bring back certain models. I sent it knowing it was the equivalent of a child sending a Christmas list to Santa Clause via the mail, but I still did it to give peace of mind that there could be a chance. I did get an email back saying "I will forward this for you and we will see what happens!". I am sure that means absolutely nothing and that my email will not make a difference in what they do next, but I am just happy to get an email back. I didn't think they would ever respond.

I am curious what you mean by "brand x" what is that?

I did buy a Case trapper at the start of my interests in old slip joints, but I didn't really like it. It is definitely because the classic trapper pattern is far from my favorite, but also, I am just not a big fan of Case. I cant put my finger on why, but they just aren't GEC, yah know?

Maybe I will give their website a look-over again and see if something catches my eye.

There is one Case knife that comes to mind that I deeply desire. It is probably harder to get than any of the GEC's but I am in love with the razor blade. I wish Case would bring this back too.
