Just picked up a new 01 steel Gec bullnose in nifebrite acrylic. This is my first Gec knife it seems like a very well built knife. Who has the bullnose? And what's your experience with this sodbuster?

I just ordered my second and a third not far behind. It's a great knife. Mid-size and a bit wide. Great great user.

Best action on mine than anything else.

So so so good.

One of my favorites. Got my second one coming! All I can say is that it's a great workhorse in a size that's pocket friendly. Congrats!

I've had a few. Still have a couple. One in red micarta and one in nifebrite. I definitely prefer the nifebrite. I might be a grown man, but I still get a kick out of things that glow in the dark (or with UV, or both). Plus the nifebright is much slimmer. I actually prefer the 47 pattern Hay'n Helper. Basically the same knife, except opposite.

I'm certainly interested in getting hold of one of these now there's a new run going on. Can't decide between Natural or Red Micarta yet....

I'm looking forward to see the denim micarta and burlap from this upcoming run.

Keep in mind that the natural is canvas Micarta, while the red is linen Micarta. I have both of those from last year's run. Personally, I like the smoother texture and appearance of linen Micarta, so I would suggest the red, but you really can't go wrong either way.

I have an older run in OD Micarta. It's bigger than I generally carry, so it doesn't see much pocket time but I can't bring myself to sell it... Nice strong springs and it's super snappy in all positions, feels awesome in hand and the blade grind cuts about as well as an Opinel. Despite, or maybe because of, it's purpose driven nature as just a functional cutting tool, it's one of the most beautiful knife designs I've ever seen.

I'm a fan ;)
I didn't know denim micarta was coming out. That will be very, very tempting. I've thought about doing some denim micarta home for a DIY project on a Case Sodbuster.... Oh my!

Mine was a gift from Meako, great knife, I often keep it in the pocket of my winter hiking coat as it's easy to pinch open with cold hands

I really like the Bull Nose. It's a great workhorse (or bull :D) and a lot of bang for the buck. Here's one in 01 tool steel and Green Canvas Micarta.

You should find everything you need to know is this thread. It covers Sodbuster type knives of all sorts - even GEC #71.

You said your's was with an 01 Blade. I really like that in the #71s but GEC has switched to 1095 in their last couple/three runs.

We need pictures of course.

I just got notified by collector knives that the #71 I had reserved was ready for me to pay and ships on the 7th

71 is a great knife. The Sodbuster Jr, in general, is ergonomically perfect and made to work for a long time. GEC's take gives it a special icing on the cake. It's ever so slightly larger than a regular SBJr, but not nearly as large as a full size Sodbuster. I also like the look of the 71 pivot. It's a sturdy knife.
