GEC Champlin Eureka Jack??

I look forward to the northfield iterations. I hope in horn or tortoise acrylic.

Which are silly and which are proper? Depends on the country I guess.

Of course it depends, but as a European engineer it is my duty to make fun of the imperial system :p

PS: I hope you don't take it too seriously ;)

PPS: 1 mile = 1760 yards = 5280 feet = 63360 inches...

It looks difficult to get to the nail knick of the main blade on the tidioute models. Just an optical illusion?

Nah, I never take too much of anything seriously!:p

Make fun of proper measurements all you want. I don't have to make fun of the silly ones. ;)

With the combination of the nice pull and the crisp cut of the nick it is easy to get out. I can even pinch mine open. This is one of my favorite GECs for sure!

Not an illusion. It is not impossible but was blocking up to half of it from the factory. I dropped the coping a little on mine to fall just below the pull of the main.

One thing I'm going to try is to take a file and drop the top side of the coping blade so it is more like a Wharncliffe. That will take the sharp edge off the top while also providing more access to the main blade nail nick. It will also make the grip more comfortable when the main blade is in use. I still like the design overall and will be perfect with this small mod.

I agree, tomsch, I would have preferred a Wharncliffe to the coping. But I also prefer a clip to the spear, so I've held off.

I'm not a huge fan of the spear but sometimes aesthetics wins out. I think the spear really compliments the pattern open and closed, much like the #85

I received my Tidioute in ebony yesterday. The pulls on these are the best I have seen from GEC. I have had a 56 jack in my pocket for the last week and although it has a reasonable pull, it is twice as heavy as that on the 92. The scales are the best ebony I have had from any production knife I own. The best part is the blade grinds. Outstanding. Like many, I would have preferred to see a shield on a scale and look forward to picking up a Northfield in the future. The stag on the JBF's looks truly gorgeous.

My Tidioute's here but I can't get it!!!

Postman couldn't get it through the letterbox..left a note, pick up from P.O.

But it's back@sorting depot not at the P.O. till MONDAY morning 8am aaarghh!:mad:

This is going to be a tiresomely long week-end:thumbdn:

All the best to all of you, Will

Man Will that blows. I have had that happen to me and it sucks. Take this time to give your old knives a good once over and ready for storage, you know the EJ will be in your pocket for awhile ;)
