GEC Champlin Eureka Jack??

Those Rosewood handles sure are pretty.
You guys are lucky to have gotten in on these, nice knives!

Well, I just met Mike to pick up my stag JBF Champlin. All I can say is, WOW. Gnarly matched stag, blade tangs mating perfectly to the springs, and the wrap around spring for the coping blade is sweet. I will now be officially spoiled on stag, and I thought my small Hubertus was gnarly. Not too fat either, just the way I like it.

The blade pull is comparable to my Case/Bose Coffin Jack, about a 5 on the spear. I would be carrying it right now, but it's my birthday present (thankfully next week :D) so when I got home my wife whisked it away.

Mike had one of the rosewood handled ones to show me too. Those of you who got one are lucky indeed, what terrific looking covers.

I guarantee I will be looking forward to future JBF Champlin offerings. GEC really outdid themselves with this one.

Cheers,
Griff

Succumbed and ordered one with green bone. Love the look of the jigging on it:)
well, this is a pattern that snuck up on me, the lines on it are just perfect, I was caught between the green bone - the jigging all going in one direction goes so nicely with the curves of the knife, and the smooth white bone. I went for the latter, I think it will age nicely - with black/grey steel against burnished white/buttery bone, plus I like the absolute minimalism of it, I'm even glad they left off the shield and bolster decoration...could have been a little cheaper I guess.

This looks to be the perfect pattern. I am unable to order one at this time but if I could I would in a heartbeat. Looking forward to hearing what you guys and gals think of yours.

Have a great day,
Jeff

Those look great, I agree with the others, wish they had a shield. I really hope they decide to do this as a Northfield version, I missed out on the Champlins.

Very nice pics guys. I must say these look great too. Nice even 4.5-5 pulls on each of these for me. Top to bottom: Antique Green bone, Burnt Stag, Ebony, Rosewood, Smooth Ivory bone.

Great pictures. I have an ebony Tidioute on the way to me now. Should be here in a couple days and I can't wait to put it to use!

Useful pix thank you Trand. Are they quite thick handles on this pattern? They look nice&rounded.

Was brooding about the White Bone v Antique Green and I chose the Antique Green. I really like the look of that gnarled jigging on it. Wonder if mine will be the first to hit Europe or will Sam beat me to it......I'm looking forward to it greatly. Might get a White Bone too if funds will allow.

Thanks, Will

Great pics of great knives, those are some killer knives. I was wondering of the Tids, are ebony and ivory about the same (handle) thickness? I prefer mainly thin coverd knives. Thanks.

Ha, ha. Oh what a joy it would be to be able to predict shipping times from the US to here...:D

Looking at the pic's from the dealer's website I don't thing the scales are especially thick but GEC have rounded them to blend into the butt of the knife on the Ebony and Ivory bone versions which is a nice touch. Nearly swayed me but sticking with green...., for now:)

I picked up the JBF pair and one of the white bone Tidioute. They are great in the hand. All of them. I'll use the white one. Remains to be seen if I use the JBF models. I really like them and want to use them, but not sure I will. The thing that I keep asking myself is "Why would you use a one of a kind custom and then not want to use a (low) production knife? I dunno. The rosewood is probably too "historically significant" for me to use it. The Stag, not so much. The ivory bone one is definitely going in the pocket; in fact has been there since I rescued it from the USPS packaging.
