GEC Champlin Eureka Jack??

Thanks, Trand. I wasn't sure about GEC's decision to go shieldless on the relative expanse of this pattern's handle, but seeing the juxtapositions above it really "works" for me. Very nice selection!

Thanks again guys. Steve's pic shows the thickness, about the same as GEC's other bone thicknesses. Ebony and bone are the same thickness.

thanks for the photos, what I like about this pattern, is that the main blade is very big in proportion to the handles, it looks even bigger than the handles in some photos.

First off I will tell you I have not been a big GEC fan. Maybe it has been all bad luck. Blade wiggle seems to have been in most GEC examples I have had and this drives me nuts personally along with less than desirable F&F on any number of points. I was reluctant to pursue this knife but JBF Champlin is a powerful part of USA cutlery history, the Cattaraugus Rosewood story is just fantastic and combined with my Pick collecting I could not resist! I will now say without hesitation that the JBF Champlin Rosewood EJ I received recently is among the best production knives I have handled that have been produced in the last few years. No blade movement whatsoever, YEA, F&F right up there, and how about the blade selection! Sure it has its flaws but overall, at least the example I have, shines brightly. To all that had a hand in this project let me give you a tip of the hat, nicely done boys and girls!

VERY impressive picture of that Rosewood. No recessed pins on that one, very glad to hear you're made up with your example

This pattern's blade combo Spear/Coping really attracts me, something different but something better too.

Really a very beautiful looking piece of wood on that example sir.

I'm glad it's restored some of your faith in said manufacturer.

I hope you enjoy it a great deal.

Thanks everyone for the group and comparison shots, very nice. Quick! I have to sell something to get one of these:thumbup:

Lol these where sold out before most of us knew they where available. I would trade a good chunk for the rosewood, absolutely stunning. I had a shot at the last pair and passed as I couldnt afford the set. Really, really wish Id have done what I could to get it and sell the stag. Thats one of very few decisions I wish I could have back!

Sorry, I was refering to the tids

No worries, Im coming around on them. Thrown off by no shield at first but I am beginning to appreciate the clean aesthetics with no embellishments. Looks like a great user that can fit in with any company.

Got a green one one the way. May i request a in hand picture with the main and the secondary? How comfortable is it in hand and use?

Got mine in today and it's a excellent made knife. The stag is nice and matches up pretty good. Action is nice and smooth, pull is just right for this type of knife. The nail pull and box are nice
as well. It's just a great overall package. GEC and JBF Champlin guys did a wonderful job on this project. Look forward to the next one... Thanks Mike.

^ Hehe, thanks for that. But the sad truth is that I'm already so used to these silly measurements that they mean more than the proper ones :) :D

Which are silly and which are proper? Depends on the country I guess.
