GEC Conductor

This knife has absolutely won my heart. The coping blade is a mini pocket scalpel. The 1095 has taken an amazing patina. Really contemplating one in buffalo horn. I bought one of each without the bail as well 2dead. #6 both of them. The stag is in my pocket and the ebony is in the safe waiting for my sons HS graduation date and since he doesn't even start school for 3 years it has a while to sit. :)
Hi seadweller,

Not a sheepsfoot but a coping blade like the ones usually found on whittlers. Both of them were part of a special run for a dealer/forum but it looks like GEC is releasing a Buffalo Horn Tidioute too.

The #33 is my third GEC knife. The others are a #65 & #25. Both are nail busters in comparison to ANY of the many Case knives
I have in my collection. Ironically, the #25 is called an "Easy Pull", which is something of a joke in itself. The Ben Hogan is so
stiff as to make it uncomfortable to even carry or use. Damn shame, as everything else about the knives is excellent.

The #33 is completely different. Smooth, easy pull, no damn half-stops, same superb fit, finish and assembly. I
would like knowledgeable GEC collectors to tell what other offerings are this user friendly.

Thanks Trand and Stephen. I really like the coping blade on the stag and ebony! Being a speical run as mentioned, I assumed they are long gone? Can you please PM me if you know they are still available? Thanks!

New #33s arrived today. The elk looks great as does the bone. Really nice color this time. The middle one is my pocket right now.

For me the Conductor became an instant classic the first day I carried it. It totes well in the pocket and has that old school feel that's hard to describe. There is absolutly nothing I don't like about the pattern and can find no fault whatever in the construction. Here is another Golden Rod Micarta.

This one with the Micarta would be ideal, with a long pull for me! (I might need one of these, maybe with a bail? I know some don't like them, but I like the thought of putting one on a paracord loop and dropping it in the pocket).

I really like this pattern and have no excuse for not having one yet.

Trand, that Elk bone 33 looks excellent. How fat are they or are they slim and with well-matched slabs?

Thanks, Will.

Thanks Will. Both of mine a thin and in line with the thickness of other conductors. There are burnt stag ones coming too but I'm not sure of their thickness. From the few I've seen they seemed also to be on the thinner side.

Good to hear Trand, fat Stag is OK on a big knife but I don't care for it on the smaller ones.

I believe this style just went to the top of my Christmas list......c'mon Mrs. Santa!! I really like the bail for some reason and the Golden Rod Micarta is great looking.

The last of the conductors I was waiting on came in. Here's an updated pic. 2x American Elk, Ancient Kauri Wood, Antique Yellow jigged bone, 2x Burnt Stag, Ebony, Gabon Ebony, Stag, and Tortoise shell acrylic.

Hey Jake, Pretty much all of my stainless GECs came with great edges and these were no different. The carbon ones were very sharp too. I only sharpened one of the elks so far and it feels like it took a little more effort than the ebony one to sharpen.

The conductor is not my favourite GEC, and I probably will never get one. It is a little bit too narrow for my handling habits, or so it seems, since I've never seen one "live".
Still, I understand why many of you love this knife. It is probably the most elegant knife in GEC lineup...and that is quite something.
Thanks for sharing.

Awesome collection Trand! I am getting one soon with grooved and pinched bolsters (without bail) and the only offering I can find is buffalo horn unless I missed other scales.

Hi Fausto, The second from the left is in my pocket now. It is 9mm wide which puts it between a Case Yellow Pen (8.5mm) and a Case Yellow Peanut (10mm) while having longer blades than both. At 2.5", the clip is plenty big enough for what I need in the day. It is longer than the #25s true but just as thin and with 2 blades, 1 of which is longer, which also makes it a better option in my opinion.

Hi Terence, Its a Northfield and has a pen secondary right? I think that is the only regular run with Northfield trim that didn't have a bail. Don't remember exactly how many were made but I believe it was even more limited than the ones I have with a coping blade.
