Dennis, I really like the Northfields in the #72. I don't think I have ever seen a knife where threaded bolsters and cut swedges made such a difference, compared to the Tidioute without same. Burnt stag and burnt orange bone are incredible! I really like frontier bone too, but wish it had the Northfield metal work.

What do you think of the Tree Brand locker? Carbon, or stainless?

You da man Dennis!!!! I don't know how many GEC knives you have and it isn't my business BUT I'd bet that the number of collectors that have more GEC knives than you do are few and far between. You have a very nice collection.

As always, very nice collection of lockbacks.

Top of the range, as usual:D

Got a Burnt Orange en route so your pix are really welcome, the swedge on the Northfield models really makes the blade purposeful&elegant.

Have the same Böker lockback myself-though in Washboard Bone-not a bad knife either:thumbup:

thanks guys but since my concentration is on gec i do'nt get into many other brands. on occassion i see some other brands i like but i do'nt want to dilute my efforts in collecting the gecs.black mamba the boker is german carbon with a impressive flat grind. f&f is pretty good , stag is good & fat but i still would classify this as a medium work knife since the blade stock is fairly thin.this model was one of boker's 1st offerings in their good 440c steel.it was available in late 80s to 90s. discontinued but brought back a coupal of years back in carbon. i do'nt know if it's available in 440. next to the enduras it's one of the sharpest out of box i've seen in a long time. sorry about the scout buried in shadow.dennis

those look really good, Dennis. I've got a red stag one on the way, myself. I've been using my blue Tidioute lockback daily around the house here, and thought I'd get me a really nice one.

Great lineup, Dennis, as usual. Thanks for the photo. The #72 is quickly becoming my favorite "Goldilocks" pattern among GEC's larger offerings: not too big; not too small; juuuust right.

I don't think I have ever seen a knife where threaded bolsters and cut swedges made such a difference, compared to the Tidioute without same.

Personally, I feel that way about all of GEC's Northfield versions. I can take or leave the bright blade finish, but the bold swedges, fancy bolsters and occasional long-pulls (my favorite) go a long way toward prying the cash from my poor emaciated wallet. The Tidiouts are solid no-nonsense working knives, but I stick with the Northfields.

Very nice! They all look great, but I really like their frontier bone & the jigged bocote looks great, too.

The grooved bolsters & swedges are a nice touch, too.

Question, how's the weight & overall "pocketability" of the single blade lock-back compared to the standard model?

I know the lock-back's blade pull should be quite lighter than the non-locking one, too, right?

I haven't been a big fan of lock backs, but these are sure nice.

Dennis, your pictures are one of the best things about this forum.

You have a great collection, and I appreciate you sharing them with us in this medium.
