Looks my Rust red 43 is already in route from my new go to dealer and should have it Monday
That was Fassssst for a Friday afternoon order
But I shouldn’t be supprised I guess since my last one arrived in the same time frame and beauty to boot :D

LOL Mike I have to agree with you .
I’ve been on a 43 kind of roll because I really like this pattern and have always favored a bigger tradional which really there isn’t as many to offer compared to smaller ones .

Probably a non-disclosure agreement involved Mike about their payroll deal and compensation.
Naw Austin just happens to be at the right place and time every time with a understandable big smile and open arms :D
All kidding aside I’ve received some very nice examples that I couldn’t of picked out better myself

The bolsters are not polished on my Micarta version and do not seem to be on yours. Is this correct?

Just pulled my Micarta out of the tube and it’s another keeper
It’s my 3rd in a row with outstanding fit and finish . Now my fingers are crossed for Rusty red Jiggy :) that’s on the way:thumbsup: I’m digging this Micarta it has a really nice feel in hand and love the looks on this pattern .

I bet you are going to have a hard time trying to pic a daily 43 carry now. Are you going to have to designate days of the week for each one?

How did you do for the 4th and 5th rounds of the lotto?

I do have a inside on another though so I will have one just not from the lottery .
As far as the 43 carry rotation I’m carrying one every 2 days lol . My rust red Jiggy should be here tomorrow so for Tuesday and Wednesday that will be my carry lol :D
Sure loving this 43 in all covers

I can’t wait for my green 43. I really want a knife with the NACB shield and those seem harder to find than a 77.

Can't wait to see how the green comes out, hopefully not as drab as it appears before grinding/buffing.
The jigging looks nice.

I think it will be another winner !
They haven’t missed yet in any cover imo .
Well except for some of the many different Variances on the frontier Bone that was hit or miss .

I have one Tidioute micarta and looking to get one Northfield. Was pretty much dead set on the orange camel bone until I just saw that the cocobolo has a satin blade...darn this makes it a tough call:confused::confused:o_O....I love the satin bladed Northfields and the wood grain looks fantastic on the cocobolo pictures:thumbsup:.

I think everything up until the blade looks amazing on the Cocobolo 43. I actually hate the blade though.... I didn't think I would dislike the aesthetics of the nail nick in the swedge as much as I do and though I know you can polish away the etch, that particular Northfield etch is my least favorite. They used that one on the 81s too and just do not care for it...

However, I probably am just looking for excuses not to buy it. I have a fair number of knife purchase coming up, as well as a new house, so a few extra dollars saved can't hurt. I will look forward to your pictures once you get one, you always take excellent photos. In fact, they will likely be so nice that I might be persuaded to scoop one up. :D

Well, I got my Rust Red Jigged Bone 43 in the mail today. I took her out of the tube and immediately took her to the sink for a good flushing, this knife had some of the worst walk-n-talk I have experienced in a GEC for quite some time. After the soap and hot water, the oiling, and the working of the action about 100 times, it has improved enough for me to not be too perturbed about it. It opens and closes with some snap now at least.

I initally was planning on getting two of these knives, 1 Tidioute and 1 Northfield. However, after some of the feedback on the 43s that had made it into waiting hands, the Northfield pictures, and simply me wanting to save some money for other knife purchases, I opted to be content with just the Tidioute.

First impressions:

This is a big, solid knife and fills the hand nice and comfortably. It isn't quite as large as my Bull Buster and not as bulky so it is a bit more pocket friendly as a result. It is a large knife in a slim, lightweight package and I suspect that it will make for a great everyday knife despite its 4.25" closed length.

Some pros:
  • The clip blade is beautifully executed. Clean and alluring lines with plenty of belly and a nice thin grind. I suspect this will a heck of a slicer.
  • Slim and lightweight for a larger knife, easy on the pocket.
  • Though the Red dye is a bit lighter than my other knives with the Rust Red Jigged Bone, it is not at all unpleasant and the bone is dyed quite uniformly.
  • Overall fit and finish is good with no gaps, cracks, or anything else.
  • Lanyard hole is a nice touch and I will be making something up for it soon.
  • No blade rap!
Some cons:
  • The pull is quite light, almost obnoxiously so. For such a big knife, I think I would have preferred something stouter, perhaps similar to that which my Bull Buster possesses.
  • The walk-n-talk is rather anemic. Improved somewhat with a good flushing but I suspect that the pivot is pretty tight as Mike had alluded to earlier in this thread.
  • The blade favors the mark side a bit but doesn't touch the liner so it isn't a big deal.
Overall, I am satisfied with the knife and I look forward to carrying it in the days to come. Yet another Oregon Trapper has made it to Oregon. :D

I definitely had to separate mine between light and anemic action. Am hoping the Northfield's have the issue resolved. It is a resistance issue, because the pull is not awful and the rated closing force is not terrible; but the action is lazy.
