GEC new #43 pattern, who’s excited?

Its a bulls head with NACB between the horns
NACB=North American Cattle Bone

Thanks! Think I’ll stick with rust red then. If it only had a long pull.

I decided that I only needed one 43. Have one in the Rust Red coming my way sometime soon.

I was originally thinking that I would get one in the Cocobolo as well but the reports of finish issues, consistency issues, and the simple fact that I am going to potentially strain my knife budget this month have me thinking that I might wait on the Cocobolo and be content with the one that I have incoming. Plus, I am not fond of the Northfield blade on this run... A nail nick in the swedge looks awfully strange and coupled with an awkward etch, it just doesn't sing to me like I had hoped it would....

I was pleasantly surprised by the size of this pattern. I thought it was going to be a bit too large, but I'm glad I decided to try it out, because the size is more reasonable than I expected. It fits my hand just about right when open.

The factory edge on mine was ok, not great. I went ahead and sharpened it the way I like it (which I do with most new knives, anyways, unless the factory edge is really good.) This one has no blade rap, though, so that's good. :thumbsup:

Here's it is next to a #74 Stallion. Obviously the #43 is a bit larger, but not by much.

I think this will turn out to be a much more pocketable knife than I expected it to be. Now I'm just trying to decide between a red lanyard or an OD green lanyard. Which do you all think?

Was hoping to carry my Beaver Tail this weekend as it showed up at the local distribution center last night. Checked the tracking info today and it's decided to head on back to Ohio for a spell -- must've forgot his toothbrush. Thanks USPS!

First batch of Frontier were light action; then it seemed improved on the rest of Frontier and Jigged Cherry and first of Natural Canvas; then seemed light again on last of Canvas and first of Red Bone. I am a little disappointed on the consistency of this pattern so far. They just need a good flush and a little breaking in; but a stiffer spring is definitely desirable.

I feel like the majority of the knives GEC have put out in the last year or so have been had lighter pulls and/or less snap than they used to.

It seems that I spoke too soon about blade rap on my Beaver Tail #43. It was pretty minimal and easy to sharpen out, but it was there.

That’s terrible! I would be bummed

When you say light again on the rust red’s, what would you rate the pull at? Is it because it’s just big so more leverage? Does it sit good and tight open and closed?

Boys an I got our frontiers...pretty damn fine. All a little different all the way around. got a rusted red on the way..!! Hey y'all think I can write my knife habit off on my taxes?? Ha!

I’ve been just guiding mine down instead of letting it fly just to be safe even though I haven’t seen that issue prior .

Not really a pull issue, more of a lazy issue. The joint is very tight such that there would be no play, which gives the action more resistance.

Just pulled my Micarta out of the tube and it’s another keeper :thumbsup:
