GEC new #43 pattern, who’s excited?

Why change the orientation of the beaver shield?

The only reason I like the Beavertail shield placed like the OKCA knives is that when I display the knife on its backspring it looks properly orientated.

Not to poop on this party but my frontier has developed some pretty poopy side to side blade play. So far the only action its seen is slicing veggies and steak and being sharpened. Usually if this happens you can start to see where the pivot pin goes through the bolster..but you cant on this one. Its enough bladeplay that you can actually hear it.:poop: Kinda pisses me off abit. This ones had more washings in soap and water than the rest, perhaps it was assembled super filthy and finally is clean. Now im affraid to even look at the other two the wrong way.

I have really abused my 43 rust red, including a 4 foot drop to concrete with scars to show and a tiny chip in one of the jigging high spots. Mine remains very tight, which is surprising given the cosmetic damage i did to one bolster.

I think you should send it in for a warranty once over.

I will probably buy one more 43, maybe a camel, since the next round of models does not appeal to me.

I hate to do that..if I cant live with it ill wrap it up and give it a gentle vice squeeze and peen it myself

Just done the same. Got quite used to it with working GEC's over the years. Once it's done it should stay put.

I ordered the micarta version and the bolsters looked like they'd been finished by a feral cat so once I'd finished peening I refinished them in a fine brush finish. Top to bottom rather than front to back. Much better:)

I recieved my first today, the antique green. Nicely done. If it had a harder pull this one could be in my top 5.
If the 81 bull moose is agreed to be a 5, Id rate my 43 as a 4.
A little disappointed in that regard, but, I can't believe I'm saying it, kinda warming up to the soft pull. No blade rap

Well I am pleased as punch!!! My micarta arrived today from @gunstockjack, and it’s perfect in every way. Fit and finish are excellent, even by GEC’s standards. The blade is nice and sharp. And the pull is easily a 6 or 6 1/2. Much stronger than I thought it would be.

It really creates a beautiful combo when matched up with its Bull Moose brother. The micarta would be identically matched if I hadn’t already been using the 81, which has started to take in the oils and sweat of my hands.

Bummed...antique green came today but one cover is cracked all the way through by the lanyard hole. I’ll have to return it.

Congrats and really cool photo!!!

I'm so pleased with my NCM. The action is superb!

They really are a very nice knife. I like my 43 much more than my 42 lockback. The linen micarta on my 42 is so highly polished, the grip is quite slippery. But the canvas micarta on the 43 feels absolutely perfect. I also really like how GEC has moved to a thicker lanyard tube on the 43.

I can't wait for my micarta version. It's gonna be a great user. I'm still shy about using my cocobolo, but it will happen.
