That thing is on fire. Beautiful.Picked my Stag #43 up and it is just incredible. Reaffirming my appreciation for GEC's ability to make what could easily pass (to me at least, I haven't had many customs) as a handmade knife.
Mine has absolutely no issues I can see, certainly none others have reported on this pattern. The pull is lighter, I'd say a 4.5, but very smooth and with GREAT snap both opening and closing right out of the tube without rinsing or anything. The blade is centered and, more importantly and unlike many GECs, sits WELL within the frame. No filing the kick on this one!!! I'm really happy with my stag.

I'll post a 1 Minute Overview and a Knife Talk video on it on my YouTube channel today.
Definitely! I just picked mine up at the post office and WOW!!! Blown away
Man those covers look great. Can't wait to see your pictures.
Man o man
Thank you very much my friends . It has arrived and it has not disappointed me .
The F & F of mine is just as described by Logan on his beauty . The opening is pretty light but snaps into Open & Close . I checked mine for Blade Rap and found none . I was surprised to have a #43 Oregon Trapper pin in the tube as well . I also found that one of Dylan's Lambfoot Guardians pocket slips will work just fine for this knife . The Stag is relatively thin and has a little bit of Popcorn on it . The weight of the knife is noticeable but it does not feel Large , but you know you have a Handful . I am certainly glad that I did get a # 43 . The fact that it is some decent Stag is a real bonus to me though . It is pretty hard for me to type this and not Coon Finger & Chicken Eye the knife . It is a big slab of Stag .
These first pictures are taken in cloudy conditions and in the As Received condition .
Size as compared to the #83 Stag
Usually when I get a new knife with Stag I will buff the Stag off vigorously with a soft cloth to remove some of the Black Coloring that happens during the manufacturing processes . These pictures are after the buffing .

I will trade you my pin for your knife !!!!Here's my full Knife Talk video on the #43 in Stag:
Harry, yours looks great!!! I really like the almost twisting look that the pile side has. Should ride in the pocket well being a little thinner also. I'm glad yours has the same great F&F as mine, but I'm a bit jealous of your pin!
That's a great group of stag you have!![]()
I was wrong about it being to fat....GEC has made me fall head over heels in love once again.![]()

Oh , that is a nice one !!!! That is some Fat Stag . Somebody did a very good job of getting it shaped to minimize the taper to the bolsters . I never knew that there might be some Stag that was too fat . Just like there is no bad stag . Congrats on getting a nice one too my friend .I was wrong about it being to fat....GEC has made me fall head over heels in love once again.![]()

Even though My Rust red Jig bone has become a daily carry for me and adore immensely . My safe queen Brazilian Cherry Beavertail is my favorite . Exuse the factory oil as it’s been the first time out of the tube since I got her . Beautiful fit and finish and walk and talk on this one .
I feel the exact same wayMy Beaver Tail has been sitting on my workbench since I got it. It's perfect in every way which makes me hesitant to actually use it. I'm thinking of picking up another #43 as a user but worry that that one will also sit there staring back at me. I don't normally like or carry knives this size but this pattern is truly stellar.
Fit and finish is fantastic, and feels real nice in my hand...fact it's in my hand still.. yours is nature's artistic beauty at its finest...as well as all of the others I've seen..Oh , that is a nice one !!!! Just like there is no bad stag . Congrats on getting a nice one too my friend .

Bummer! I guess my decision point would be how much you like those covers vs. if you think you can get another from the dealer...if you still wish to acquire one. I think I'd contact GEC about the blade centering. I think I could live with a little blade rap as it would likely hone out.View attachment 880485 View attachment 880486 View attachment 880487
Well this is disappointing. I love the gnarly stag on this knife and the way it looks. But the blade is slightly off center and I can see a tiny spot where the blade edge touches the backspring. Neither flaw is that bad, but I will probably just return the knife to the dealer rather than sell with disclosures or return to GEC. I have not had great luck asking GEC to make repairs. What is the consensus on the porch?
