GEC new #43 pattern, who’s excited?

Very nice, Luke, mine just arrived as well, and has some nice bold grain and color. It came a little sluggish (improved with flushing and open-closing), with 4½-5 pull, no blade rap, and VERY sharp. I'm pleased.

Man, you guys are making me want to play hooky to go see if mine stacks up!

Ky, the #43 Oregon trapper is the same length as the #54 Case trapper @ 4¼" closed, but the Oregon is a much deeper knife from spine to blade well. I just measured the depth of a couple of mine at the spring pin (center) and they are as follows:
____________ CASE _____ GEC ___
CLOSED -------- 0.86" -------- 1.07"
OPENED -------- 0.66" -------- 0.81"

Thank you.

The GeC 43 is slimmer than a case trapper.

I have both, amd the 43 carries better and is mich nocer all around.

You're right, Cat, the two I have measure 0.54" for the 2-blade Case, and 0.46" for the single blade GEC, side to side through the center pin.

Looks great!

Mine is perfectly centered. Pull the same as yours. And razor sharp as well.

You guys, I can’t find anything wrong with this knife. Perfectly centered blade. Zero blade rap. Everything perfectly flush. Gorgeous grain. Push-cut-phonebook-paper sharp. Stiffer pull than my micarta 43 — I’d say a solid 6. And it has the walk and talk that just tickles all the right spots.

I’ve never considered keeping any of my knives off limits to use but I might have to start with this one...

These 43’s really are great knives !
I managed to hang on to my Rust red Jig Bone , natural micarta and Brazilian Cherry my fav

After sharpening twice mine still has blade rap. I see where it's hitting the back spring now, there's a little divot from the edge. I decided to put a little piece of receipt paper where the kick lands. Hopefully that fixes it. I am really picky about proud tips, but I don't love blade rap either. Hate to see a freshly put on sharp edge get rolled when you close it.

That's some nice cocobolo!

What a pair! I'll have to take a picture with mine together.

I really enjoyed his version of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

Thanks! I’ve only read Tolkien’s version and I still need to read his version of Beowulf.

I would love to see your pair! I’m actually looking to trade for a cocobolo 74 to match up with the 43, but I won’t be sad if it falls through.

Thanks for the photo credit Hunter, my wife made fun of me for doing a “sexy photo shoot” with my knife haha.

That sure is some fine stag you got there — perfect combo of popcorn and ridges! Must be a joy to hold.

Some more incredible Stag on the #43's . The pictures we saw on the GEC site during manufacturing indicated that there was some great Stag being used , and we are seeing some of it , but I thought there would be more being shown than there is . Your pictures look like the Stag has some fairly deep texture and some great color . Thanks so much for the show my friend .
