GEC Rendezvous and Picnic!

I too have not yet had the time to take photos of what I brought back from Titusville.

However, here is a photo of part of the machining floor at GEC, as well as a photo of three men who just might know more than the rest of us combined when it comes to traditional knives....

I have not had time to make any photos of all my Titusville souvenirs yet. But here is a souvenir that I will always hold near and dear. Pam took this photo of me between these two fine gentlemen while at the picnic. Paul to the left and Duncan to the right in the photo. I have so many experiences that I want to take time to write them all down to make sure I don't miss someone or something. WOW!!! This was an outstanding trip! :D

When I get home , I will check out the pictures on the wall at the post office for matches of this !!!!!!!!
Many thanks to you guys for helping to make my days !!!!

I thought they were connected because he had a chair for him and I thought he was ahead of me because he had a chair there but he was not there yet. I said I was 5th and they said 4th because that dude arrived after me. Ha ha!! I got a Rendezvous knife as well as my mother, but when you get there that early as I did, Every space in line counts. I will be on that next year. And I will get my way in some of the cases!!

I heard that the guy in front was there at 9pm Wednesday night...........That must of been murder to do that, I thought I was nuts getting there at 5.30am Thursday.

You and your mother were actually 4th and 5th in line. I know because I was sitting ahead of you as 3rd in line. They do not sell a #1 knife so #2 would go to the 1st person in line if they wanted it. The #2 knife is no more or less valuable than the #51 knife. Some people collect them by the number. The number means nothing to me personally. I took #4 just because that would have been the one I should have taken by my place in line! Just for the record I could have purchased #3 at 10:00 AM on Saturday morning or my choice of any of the 11 others at that time still available. I hope you enjoyed your first Rendezvous. But just like any other event you will encounter some rude individuals. Just ask my wife, but that's a story for another time!! The genuinely kind and good hearted friendly people that you will encounter here will far out number the others!

I was afraid someone would think to do that!! Harry, Pam and I really enjoyed meeting you and your lovely wife Nancy. We enjoyed getting to know you guys however short our visit was. I enjoyed the knife swapping and all the knife talk we shared. I am sure we will be able to work out some more visits in the future at some point and we are looking forward to it. :)

It gets better, Donna just received a call letting her know she won one of the 2 knives given away as door prizes at GEC, she is pretty excited.

John my congratulations to Donna! It couldn't have went to a more deserving lady!:D

Three of my favorite mugs! Lol. I printed this one out and it's in a small frame next to my computer desk.

Yeah I know. You told me that when I was there. I got 5 and 6. I am not saying that. I would have liked you guys to have let me in where Patty was. There were 2 guys that went in ahead of me. That did not affect the number of knife I got. It could have though, especially if I was 16th. But that did not happen. What I was saying is that those guys that went ahead of me, gave me that much more time I had to wait in like to get the Rendezvous knife and by the time I did, you guys had Patty's case covered and had 6-12 knives already out. I just want a fair shake. Next year I will stick up for myself more.

This thread has been terrific to read through. Sounds like a lot of great folks gathering in an equally great place, I am thrilled that you all had an excellent time, or most of you, at least.

In fact, this thread has motivated me to start the preliminary stages of planning a trip next year. I have family scattered across the East Coast from Maine to Florida, it just might be a good time to visit some of them and make Titusville a pleasant stop along the way. Knives aside, it really does seem the real treasures are the people you get to meet and interact with there and that cannot be traded for anything.

So perhaps I can add my face to the mix at next year's Rendezvous, we shall see. :D
