GEC Rendezvous and Picnic!

I also bought a Pony Jack at the Rendezvous after Sarah showed me the one
She had bought the day before. It's one of those knives You have to see in hand
to appreciate. She was pretty enthusiastic about how smooth the walk and talk was.
I don't think You could go wrong with advice on knives from Sarah.

These knives are a great way to meet some really nice and interesting people.

You know Tim, I talked to Sarah about those, and I almost bought one, but it would have to be turned into a single blade :D. She showed me how flat the clip is compared to the 15s so I reconsidered

First let me say while the knives are one of the reasons we travel to Titusville it would not be anywhere near the experience without good friends from the forum and Great Eastern to share it with, that is what makes Rendezvous so special, the people who are so willing to share their knowledge, experiences, knives and friendship. The generosity is amazing, I was gifted some wonderful and rare knives.
I am going to break my posts into several because I have so much to post, this post will be the GEC parts knives and the Rendezvous Knife, I took the pictures on a wonderful cutting board that Duncan brought all the way from New Zealand to gift Donna and I, made out of reclaimed New Zealand Rimu wood, Duncan, I can't thank you enough and Donna and I are so proud to call you a friend, the New Holland Barlow is special and I will have a separate post on the gift knives from you, Charlie and Paul.

First up the 2017 Rendezvous knife, a 38 with the LVS Paua Abalone, beautiful stuff,

Next the 36 Sunfish in Hemlock bone, some had single nail nicks and some had double, I would say 12 or so of each and tis year they had a new label for some of the parts knives

This one may have been one off, I snagged it first thing Thursday morning, a 92 in black acrylic with a blade etch, there were a couple one off knives in the case.

Augie, we have similar tastes. I have that Sunfish's twin brother weighing down my pocket right now!

I figured this is a story that would be appreciated here. There was an older gentleman from Tennessee on the factory tour with me. He lives nearby a certain large Tennessee based knife distributor, and discovered GEC through the SFO of the 66 Stockman that retailer ordered. He bought the knife on Wednesday, looked up GEC when he got home, saw the Rendezvous information and told his wife he was going to make the trip in a couple short days!

He learned a lot on the tour and ended up in the shop adding to his collection right after it was over.

Were you the first in line on Thursday morning?

John did you get a chance to pick your knife because I had just missed the cut but then found out what it was and passed. there was about 7-8 people ahead of me that day

What case were the parts knives located? In the same case as the "S" knives?

that refers to store only knives, the parts knives were sorta spread out as Christine was telling me about the two bladed 48s in ivory acrylic with the hounds tooth, only 9 made but I passed

No, I think I was #15.
Ok. This was my first Rendezvous and I was a little confused about what a parts knife was. I was not sure if they are "S" knives. I was trying to look at the knives in the case where Patty was (I think that was her name) but the first few guys in line had that case covered. Ha ha. I was like 4th or 5th in line.
