GEC should get back to basics

Im not sure how making a wider variety of styles using new kinds of steel with is getting back to basics.
It would be good to see some previous patterns resurrected .Possibly they will.

OK 2 yo tbread.

The craftsmanship alone is worth the price. The materials are cool, the patterns are cool, the history is cool, etc.. My only let down is that I can't carry them all year round. I personally think the company strives for simplicity...it doesn't get more basic than that...

They used to do a lot more different cover materials in a run. In the #53 Cubans that I collect, in 2007 they made 7 different Tidioute covers and 14 different Northfield covers in the same run! Nothing close to that now, but they make a lot more different patterns each year than back then.

I think GEC is at the top of their game.

The owners should keep doing exactly what they are doing, just more and better!

GEC has managed to prosper in a very tough pocketknife market. Companies folding, production fleeing to off-shore locations. They provide 30 or so much-needed jobs in a small town!
And they are not getting rich! I'm worried that pressure to up production will fracture the magic!!
Don't change a thing!!

I'd be happy if they did more in 440C. I'd love a 22 Magnum in stainless. I only own two GECs and it's simply because their stainless offerings are so limited. I have no interest in paying that much for 1095.

We miss you at the Oregon Show - it's never been as tuneful since your last visit!!:D
The Rendezvous is a little closer!!??!!??
Hope you stick around!!

On the whole, GEC is basics: basically the best American cutler at the present time. Not beyond criticism-where's the stainless or D2????- but a fine source of additions to the user's and connoisseur's collections alike.

Regards, Will
