GEC White glow in the dark Bullnose!

As a watch collector who loves bright luminous on dials and hands, this is killing me as I already have a Bullnose. I even have the perfect lanyard bead for it, with a tritium tube inside :D

It'll have to go on the roundtuit list as I just reserved an Ole Jack Gunstock, and I already have a Case CF soddie on the 'to buy' list(!)

I passed on the GITD but I did grab an Early Bird orange Redneck from Collector Knives.:)

I love me some ORANGE! GITD not so much.:thumbdn:

Soddie with glow-in -the-dark handles.

I can see it now:
Traditional Forum merges with Prac Tac.:eek:

Frank, The blades would need to be coated with black oxide so that they don't reflect light and give away your position. :D

I kind of like the looks of the white handle, and the glow in the dark is an interesting novelty. I am thinking it might be nice when out camping. I ordered one :)

I just ordered one :) Been wanting to pick up one of these for a while. I like the white handles.

The glow covers will make quick work of finding the knife if dropped... or even finding the knife in a glove compartment, backpack or campsite... or the bottom of a river. Richard Rogers had mentioned using moonglow handles for this reason (link). I think these will sell out quick unless GEC makes a lot of them.

One thing to consider. The amount/degree of glow you get with this type of material is the amount and brightness of light it got before being put in the dark. If it rides in a bag in the dark for a good while before you might want to use it, it isn't gonnal glow as if it had been exposed to light fifteen minutes before it went in the bag. Probably the same thing as pockets go - carrry it in the pocket all day and then pull it out at night. How much glow is it gonna have?

Anyway, it does look good with the white covers but not enough for me to get one at this time - maybe later.

I think, the idea is no bad. But not my beer, after all. Soddies / Hippekniep are nice knives at all, very useful. But for me, I´m no fishing man or a hunter, so I have no reason for GITD knife. The white scales are nice looking - I´d prefer a smooth natural bone handle ;)

And as Ed already told, if the GITD is sitting in the bag for some hours and will be put out at night, it won´t glow ...

Nice idea, but not my personal taste.

Ed, I don't have much personal experience with glow in the dark stuff. I think it will depend on the material used but I've read (advertising) claims that some stuff will last up to 24 hours after fully charged. I was assuming that three hours in a pocket during a hike wouldn't be a problem. But I'll know for sure after it arrives.

I do find it humorous that "dead skunk", "lava lamp" and the other acrylics received little (if any) criticism by comparison... well maybe not the "glitter gold". This will be my first acrylic handled knife.

Maybe if they labeled it with a seasonal Halloween logo like Case does, it could be a big seller? The Case Halloween series sure are.

I want one out of curiosity, but it is something that will be put on the back burner for me; I love the white, but I am not sold on it just yet.
If I want anything GITD on my Bullnose, I'll grab some of the GITD paracord and make a lanyard for it.

...now if it glowed blue, however...

This will definitely not be my prac tac knife, I don't want my position being given away from the knife whilst on recon:D On a positive note for those who don't care for the handle, at least GEC is venturing away from just black and orange and trying a different handle option. Hopefully they will keep mixing it up and bringing new handle options to the market...maybe we will see some bone or stag in the future, probably not due to cost but you never know.

A nice take on the soddie pattern. I have a question for all you Bullnose fans though, why? Maybe I'm just too biased towards natural handle materials, but if I was in the market for a nice user in the ~ $50 price range, the easy choice for me is the Beavertail Scout. Wood handles, cool beaver shield, and bolsters for just a few dollars more. Doesn't seem to me as if you get as much for your money with the Bullnose, unless of course you choose it because you prefer the 01 steel, in which case I totally understand.

The "Bull Nose" or "Farm & Field Tool" is a name GEC uses instead of sodbuster. It's a sodbuster not a Scout. I agree with you but the "Bull Nose" crowd (I'm in it) is partial to the sodbuster look.

Along the lines of what you're saying, I like the SFO Farmer Jack that Mike from Collector Knives had made with a spey blade with swedge and long match strike pull. Here is a picture of mine.

The spey blade gives it very much the sodbuster look.
