GEC's French Kate Knife has been revealed

It will go well with the lamp in the front window.

Dude, no joke, but we have a leg lamp in our front living room window. My bro-in-law gave it as a housewarming gift. Maybe that's why I'm not so critical of the pattern.

They really losing the plot with the past half dozen ... things started out so well for them with some genuinely great knives

You wonder if they are doing any kind of marketing research at all. They certainly don't seem to be paying attention to the knuts. With so many great traditional patterns yet to be recreated, what the heck are they doing putting resources into stuff like this?

Don't worry guys. The forum knife will hopefully blow us all away. Not to mention whatever GEC comes out with between now and then.

This is just the calm before the storm.;)

Keep the faith.

I've never owned a leg knife - I think I'll buy one. I agree smooth bone or ivory would look better.

Wow. What a huge waste of primitive bone.

What's strange to me about this pattern is that it would seem to appeal more to those who are looking for a novelty knife. I find it hard to believe that this potential customer base would be willing to pay the price that GEC will have to charge for it. I know that if I was considering purchasing one as a gift for someone who isn't into knives I would be more apt to get a RR instead. Why spend the extra money for someone who will probably not appreciate or respect the difference in quality?

Wow, that's a big production run. I'm kind of scratching my head on this one.

I know GEC produces some very excellent knives, so I'll thank the French Kate for buying me some time before the next one comes out that I *have* to buy, whatever the next one may be. With such a large stable of proven winning designs, a clinker every so often can be expected. I'll continue to seek out the Tidioute / Northfield patterns that make me happy, since the ones that I own are a joy to use.

Well, after three pages of passes it looks like I might get to try out a GEC for a stellar price. That is, as soon as these hit the 70% off clearance rack :p.

On the good side, it doesn't look like a knife that would raise an eyebrow if you dropped in in a room full of non-knife people.

I hope they don't produce all of those numbers are as I have a feeling they would hard to sell in those quantities.

Yeah, I am having a hard time getting my head around 100 Burnt Stag in this pattern? Who does appeal to?

If it could be pinched open I would get one for my wife, it would complement her shoe addiction, but the regular nail nick opening is a no no for nail polish.

heel or no heel i'd like to meet the beer bottle I couldn't open with that curvy pommel bit at the end.
i think some women would dig the old fashioned appeal of this knife even if they aren't into knives.
"hey sweetie. got yer bottle opener in yer bag? cheers"

I could totally get behind the idea of a traditional pocket knife with a bottle opener built in (meaning it's not a blade), but making it look like a lady's leg, frankly seems tacky to me. I never understood the appeal of the design (other than you can open a bottle with it).

It's interesting but i don't think its for me. I think I was expecting something long and thin and sharp as a razor. Something you wouldn't necessarily expect your desizen of the evening to come out with from her garter.

I'll step up and admit I think it's cool in a kitschy way. I'm happy, from the sounds of it, that I'll have no trouble snagging one in my material of choice. :D
