GEC's French Kate Knife has been revealed

I'll pass. Even if sold at Rough Rider prices, I still Pass.
I see only a very limited market for these, as mentioned, gag gifts and novelty items. A run of 25 in ivory micarta would give it some collectors appeal...

Somewhere though there's a very serious Lady Leg Knife collector who's going crazy over these. Best wishes to him.

In that version it appears that the heal can't even be used as a bottle opener. ?

You never know. They might cancel production of this pattern and the ones available could be some rare collectors pieces.

Stag anyone? Seems weird someone would fork over that much for a novelty item. Bet that guy on Christmas Story stocked up though, the one who got the Lady Leg Lamp as a prize. Good grief, they went overboard on the handle selection on these too.

I have a lock back, whos handle scales are naked mermaids... Perhaps GEC could take a crack at that design next? :D

I'm sure the quality is there but for me I've always felt the "leg knife" was a bit cheezy I dunno this is really the last pattern I would expect from a great company like GEC when I think leg knife a company like GEC doesn't come to mind I think of a company like Rough Rider or steel warrior I just don't know of many people who would be willing to drop that kind of money into a novelty knife.

It's an interesting pattern...reminds me of the lamp in A Christmas Story. I think I'm having the same reaction as Ralphie's mom :)

Some ideas were bad regardless of who had them or when they were had. This was one of those. Rest in peace, PLEASE!

This has got to be the ugliest knives I've ever seen.

There might be a market if they were being sold in a souvenir shop at a brothel, but I can't see anyone paying seventy-five to a hundred bucks for one.

It's a shame that for some unknown reason GEC felt the need to make this a "leg knife". Can you imagine if they would've just made it a regular equal end or swell end knife:

3 1/4" long. Check.
Nice looking clip blade. Check.
Long pull. Check.
Threaded bolster. Check.
Available in nice handle materials. Check.

Could've/would've been a nice looking, nice carrying, nice size knife. Like their 25 series only bulked up a little bit.

Maybe I'm the weird one, but I kind of like the pattern. Now, I wouldn't be carrying it in every situation, but it does have a sort of campy charm to it. I'd actually been eyeing the RR versions and looking for one that has scales I like. May have to search out a deal on these, instead.
